The Exhaust plays huge impact on power gain and losses between different RPM. On MY bike 107 Stage 2 swapped TBR 2.1 turnout 2.1 because the low RPM had a hug dip and S&S pro street race only increased higher but still with 475 Cam you need more back pressure Exhaust to balance right the power band.

You definitely need a baffle otherwise the curve dips at the beginning because of losing back pressure without a baffle

Looking good and dyno numbers and more importantly the curves look good. '21 Sport Glide (S&S 475 Cam, S&S AC, and V&H Propipe - Softail version): Noted the torque curve dip low to lower-mid rpm range (about 2200-3200 rpm). At first I was thinking that the bike might be more enjoyable (to more people, those whom don't ride hardly at all above 4,000 rpm) with a S&S 465 Torque Cam (or something similar), but the S&S 475 Cam is great all around cam, although biased more towards the midrange to upper rpm. It would be interesting to see if purposely switching out the V&H standard baffle for a V&H quiet baffle would add back some torque in the lower to lower-mid rpm range. Torque enhancing insert addition (at exhaust exit point) to the pipe???

When I bought my Sport Glide I did the stage 3 with the new bike 20% discount and to retain warranty. SE tuner, SE Extreme AC, SE 64TB & intake, SE-498 cam, S&S Superstreet 2-1 50 state legal with larger Db reducer. It made 118 HP 122 TQ. 3 years 35k miles later warranty is up. I'm planning some upgrades this winter. New tuner more cubes. Point is you don't have to chit the warranty with aftermarket tuner aftermarket cam and non compliant pipe to make power. You need a Harley tech / tuner that knows how to work the EPA compliant tuner. He only made 112 HP 119 TQ and has a new bike with no warranty. He did save some money but when I did mine I financed it with the bike loan so cheap financing and no out of pocket. I have no problem with his build except that many are told you have to go aftermarket and forfeit your warranty to make power which is not true.

He said no back pressure indicating a loss of power. That is the incorrect understanding of back pressure. Backpressure is the resistance in the pipe to the flow of gas. As mentioned earlier, the engine must work to push exhaust gas down the exhaust system. That work is spent overcoming this resistance. Obviously, the greater the backpressure, the more work is required to oppose it, and so the less power is available to move your bike. Conversely, the lower the backpressure, the less work is required to oppose it; therefore, the more power is available to move your bike. If that was all there was to it, then the free-flowing experts would win, and we’d all have big-diameter, smooth, straight drag pipes. Ahh, but there’s more. There are two reasons to reduce backpressure: to recover the power lost overcoming resistance, and to increase flow velocity. Lowering the backpressure by smoothing the inside of the pipe, by eliminating restrictions, and by removing obstacles not only lowers the resistance to the flow but will also increase flow velocity. Or, if you really want to be precise, lowering the backpressure decreases the rate at which the flow velocity decreases. The gas always slows down because the pipe isn’t frictionless; with lower resistance, it just doesn’t slow as fast or as much.

Now that we've seen the data from your old roadglide and the sportglide, I wish you still had the roadglide and could do a drag run against the sportglide to see if the sportglide would pull on the bagger. Id be very curious to see that for sure haha

John, Tell Dave that that was awesome info on the Back-Pressure requirements. ( kinda explains to myself why I was hedging on whether to get a Cobra Slip-on for my ride. It already has a mean sounding Mellon-Cannon on it.... But the Cobra was a neighbor-hater ...lol). An idea for a Vid would be You and Dave set up a "" Slip-on Muffler Comparison test"" Not sure if releasing those results would be bias-enough for OEM's to complain and... well .... do a cease and desist on the idea. but just sayin'....). Stay Safe. Ciao.

Do it. Amazing cam. I have it in a 107 and I managed 107/117. Don’t be distracted by peak numbers though, you want numbers that are high throughout the rpm range. The 22xe has a very steep hp climb and the torque comes on quick and is carried throughout the whole rpm range. Take a look at fuel motos dyno chart library to see what they’ve done with the 22xe

I didn't catch your name, I have a new 2021 sport glide, love the bike. I bought a V&H pro-pipe like the one you have in your video. I have read reviews and i hear people say they don't come with heat shields. That's hard for me to believe, they complain they run hot. I live in Huntsville Texas so you know it gets really hot here. Since I already have it i am going to have it installed after the cam upgrade. I am going with the SE 447 cam to keep with in the warranty, i am sure you heard this before. I am sure my budget is much lower than yours being retired, but still love to ride. I do like the looks of the V&H staggered big shots (Black) wondering what kind of power it puts out? I know you are around bikes all the time and wondering if you could give me some insight that exhaust. You have more knowledge than me for sure. Love the other bike (Silver Streak) Something like that, Awesome. The lord has truly blessed you with all your toys. I hope i hear back, my bike will be going to the shop today. :)

Installing 475 cam along with the Rinehart headers 2-2. Have the Arlen ness big sucker and the eliminator 400’s slip-ons installed already. I was told to keep the slip-ons on bike becuz it will produce more back pressure. Should I expect about the same numbers or has there been more upgrades to the softail other than cam intake and exhaust?

Hello Dave, I am in the process of getting a new 2021 sport glide with a 107. I am looking for a cam from low to mid-range top around 4500-5000 rpms. That my riding ranges with a mid-sounding pipe, not looking to blow my ears out. I had bikes in the past and ran across a gallop at 35 miles an hour, that was a pain in traffic. What's your thoughts about that? James
