When I moved into my home, I had insulated and sheet rocked my garage. The big surprise was it not only id it work well for the winter but also keep it nice and cool for the summer hot weather. I used the fiberglass baton for insulation. I am in the process of ordering an electric heater off Amazon this week for the garage. I really hate the cold.

Your notification on your next garage reno rolled up on my phone this morning. I am on to view the next one now! I am finding this very enjoyable to watch. There are some very helpful comments as to your foam installation dilemma as well. I hope you find a another solution. 😊

This is entertaining watching you work on your garage , can’t wait for the next video.

I’d rip the interior sheet rock down it’s not much more work and then you can insulate it properly and see what’s behind the walls . I know you said you didn’t want to do it but it’s the right way to do it. Especially if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the garage .

Hey John, here's a tip. We have filled these types of walls using vermiculite and a home made blower made from a leaf blower. Also the vermiculite is fire resistant.

I've never heard of that, thanks for the tip, I'm going to check it out.

Its gonna look nice with the finish trim around the lumber. Also, Great Stuff is an air sealant and not an insulation. It may be easier, less expensive and less time consuming to remove the existing sheet rock, insulate then install new sheetrock. Or, install new studs on the setback, insulate and install sheetrock and the wall will be flat from floor to ceiling.

Glad i waited to the end to comment, i was gonna say the expense of the foam would be high. I was figuring 4-5 can per bay and probably 20 to 25 bays push you close to 3 grand. That first bay wasn't a full bay. Your assessment was spot on. It's moving along, about to get exciting! Ready for the next update. I'm rootin fer ya!

John put the blown insulation in each cavity my friend. It will save u money in the long run with your heating bill and will be cooler in the summer. Good luck.

The top molding might affect the cabinets when building. As it isn't going to be a flat surface. Also, the bottom 1/4 round could have been left out also. The floor guy should make a cove when installation of floor coating. Great content.

John, you need to get the big spray foam bottles. A&B mix and get a few tips with it. They used to sell them at Home Depot and Lowe’s

Yeah, I haven’t seen it, I’m going to check a couple more stores near me

John. Look at one of the companies that ship do-it-yourself kits for spray foam . One is called Tiger Foam , or something like that.

We did our 900 sqf basement with a company that does the expandable foam. It was $1,300.00 for 4 walls

Hi John, that outlet you cut the back of the box is against code. It’s a big fire hazard.
@40andglidingАй бұрын
They should have some shallow boxes you can use.
@CYCLEFANATIXАй бұрын
I appreciate that, they do, but I am going to fire retardant foam behind the box 👍👊

Stupid , but common practice on attached garages... exterior walls no insulation. I'm in ND where winters get to subzero temps (-30 some winters) ,and many homes are built like that.

Nice bike but not what I’m looking for…good luck with this ….

what about styrofoam panels for insulating? can paint em any way ya want or airbrush em with cool stuff and they provide great insulation. Funny you keep saying "big gap filler"..... if i had a dollar for every time i've been called that pal 😂😂😂😂😂 jk. too easy. that's what she said 😂😂😂😂
