My son was diagnosed a couple years ago, he's 10 now. Before, I just accepted his uniquenes as who he is, but then he started having problems at school with "meltdowns", but who could blame him with so many kids picking on him! I love him and cherish his being "different" because he opens up my world. I try to encourage all my kids, "Don't go with the flow, BE the flow!" I want this especially for him because he is so awesome! You be awesome too!

My 10 yr. old son was just diagnosed. I really wasn't sure they were right because he didn't have all the characteristics described. There were a lot of things that we didn't pay attention to, we just attributed it to him being him. As he got older his differences stood out more. We decided to have him evaluated this year. Thank you for making these videos.

its so strange to be diagnosed later in life, im 30 now. but i start to reflect on memories and all kinds of things that make sense now. i used to have a wierd walk too, and people would always say, "hey, i saw you the other day, you were walkin like this" and they would imitate my walk and i didnt think anything of it at the time, but sinse, ive learned to walk normally. my eyes are sensetive to light, so i wear sunglassess even when its not that bright out. im still learning to cope with this

I like your videos. I actually had a lot of the same childhood traits you described particularly the motor skills issues and not being able to catch things and the over pronunciation of words.

True. I was diagnosed in 1999 at 23. I was diagnosed as autistic at age two after I hadn't started talking (that started at 3). I always had social troubles and show some of the signs of AS. I also had an abusive past that may have affected my diagnosis. It is a struggle.

I used to draw these war scenes with tanks, massive space ships, customized AT-AT, and AT-ST's (because I was obsessed with star wars and command and conquer) all shooting at each in the style of an old 2D platformer game, I think I still have them kept away in a binder.

I am just beginning to wonder if I have this condition and I'm old enough to be a grandparent. I heard it runs in Families and my mother had stimming behaviors and didn't like crowds ( we were only allowed one friend for our birthday parties), but she baked a cake, made our favorite food for dinner, and we got to pick our favorite place to go. Now I see traits in myself and all siblings and my children to some degree. I used to draw out picture maps of adventure games I played, like I think one was called King's Quest in the 80's, and later I took elaborate sketches while playing the popular puzzle solving game MYST. I don't like games where people are attacking me. Real life is stressful enough. I also learned from one autism channel and later confirmed by Dr Temple Grandin that people with Epilepsy (which I was diagnosed with at 14) can be comorbid with autism. So maybe my anti-seizure meds have in a way treated my autism? And allowed me to function to some degree. I wish I could compare my report cards before and after I was put on meds

damn my brother used to always draw computer games on paper like a tom and jerry video game and he would just print the scenes of the game on paper over and over again. but he was always overly positive idk if i can say social but he was a VERY smiley kid and made easy contact as far as i remember

its a strange disorder, but i like it, to be neurotipical is so boring. and neurotipicals are so dependent on each other and so desperate for each others acceptance. its nice to be free of that, i still make an effort to fit in and regulate what i say and how i act, but once in a while ill be myself and neurotipicals find it very entertaining. all "aspies" have an obsessive interest and luckily mine is psychology which really helps in this struggle, you have to keep learning, and keep growing

Oh my gosh. I think I have Asperger's syndrome. I have all of those traits. For example, I am obsessed with anime. I watch DBZ and I will imagine complete new story lines, new characters, new fights, and while I am thinking about this I am sitting there doing all of the moves in person and I usually don't even realize it

I used to draw video game levels a lot as a kid too, In fact I would design entire video games, but got frustrated because I didn't have access to a computer so couldn't program them. By the time I had a computer and was able to learn basic programming I had lost interest in the design aspect, so never really did anything with either of those things... I had loads of blank paper just for designing video games. I always liked using graph paper, because it made it much easier to design levels in proportion to how they might've actually turned out if I had been able to program them.

Lol, I did the same thing. My brother called it "Paper Fantasy" since I liked final fantasy a lot. I would write out spells and creatures. Make rules n stuff.

Evan O'Hara A lot of my stuff like that was inspired by Final Fantasy (I was really obsessed with Final Fantasy at the time lol) - I spent a lot of time trying to work out algorithms for HP growth with different character classes, because I was especially fascinated with the HP growth system on FF games, for some reason.

You know i remember too over annunciating words at a young age in my life....hun that was just you experimenting with sound and enjoying playing with it. So you do that, so did i, and a child, Aspie or normal will try out every facit of their human to find where they feel like they are. They will bounce when they walk, i know i did that too...its what every kid does...some for longer then others and others not as long because they grew up in a strict home and got knock it off from their folks.

What your are documenting is invaluable, we need to decipher human psique, it is more difficult to decipher "normal" human brains, we are a diversity, and the question is why? what for? is there any purpose to all this?
@sbsman4998
@sbsman4998 7 жыл бұрын
Exactly Kricket and the "whys" and "what fors" are indeed the main questions. To understand these fully we would have to understand human history way long ago in our past, unfortunately except for a few rock monuments, the way these civilizations survived and lived long long ago is lost to us, we will never know fully BUT like the Pyramids, we can see bits and pieces of this ancient system. It is lying about like monuments to the past. Example ~~> yoga, tai chi, martial arts, acupuncture, hypnosis on and on are all pieces of a larger puzzle, a single ancient healing system arising from our common advanced cultural beginnings, maybe even millions of years past. I propose a new human species . We are surely different enough to earn our own species name, Homosapiens Autistia. What do you think? As for the "why"? ~~> because we were intentionally bred this way, yep like dogs, our wonderful traits desired as useful in this long ago ancient culture, surely not my culture 2017! What "fors"? ~~> we are here to ask that question so reason enough huh Krick!

It would be nice, if you could condense all of this information in to 3 minute videos. That way, the viewer does have to sit through so much filler until you finally start telling them the symptoms.

The reason i said what i did below is because i see myself in the expression of u as u speak. Your facial expressions are very telling of ur disappointment in :"self" the way "self" used 2 appear, hun, its ok, its alright. we all go back & look back @our past & realize oh f*ck...look how i did that...that was stupid. Well, that was way back & its history, u could not help but be who u were...let it go. You are a winner now!! Hit me up on facebook Jeanene Milanak. Lets start a support blog. Hugs!
