Twelve-inch wheels and a 124cc engine aren’t considered exciting things in the world of motorcycles. Fortunately, nobody ever told Honda that. And so in 2013, it introduced the Grom. The 2025 Grom is not significantly different from that iconic first model and even less so from the third-generation Grom that replaces it. Actually, the 2025 Grom is identical to the previous model in terms of running equipment and only differs in tweaks certain body panel.

something about the smaller displacement sewing machine sound, and then you get up to the CB300R with its 286CC single, and it's a big more throaty, IE a larger sewing machine.

I wish Honda would see what the community is doing with these mini-moto's and make a 2nd version perhaps with the super moniker that has 150 or 200cc oil cooled motor. My modded Monkey make about 11-12hp but it would be ideal if it had around 20, would make an awesome commuter for me.

I have a 2025 Grom, got it the end of June. It is my 2nd Mini Moto (first one was a Z125 I had for 2 years). I absolutely love it, I ride my street triple to and from work, every other time I’m on the Grom 😂

Why the switch from z125 pro to Grom? I had a grom in 2018 and am now considering a z125 since they're cheaper and the new groms have transmission issues
@PortersGarage
@PortersGarage 22 сағат бұрын
@@charkswitlazers there was a year in between the 2. I figured I already owned a Z125 so I test rode a new Grom and wanted to try it out. I’ve heard of transmission problems but haven’t experienced it yet. Z125 suspension was better stock vs stock, but the grom seems to run slightly faster and hold speed slightly better than my Z125 did. You really can’t go wrong with either machine. When my daughter starts riding next year she’ll probably end up on a z125 just because I can find them used cheaper around me than I can a grom.

@@charkswitlazers I will say, ride them both and buy whichever you like better. Every vehicle make/model will have it’s characteristic issues but not all of them will have that issue. My ECU died and left me stranded on the 2021 Z125, but you don’t hear about that alot though it does happen on them. My dad has owned alot of Harleys and had great luck, I’m 2 for 2 on them being junk. Luck of the draw, it’s good to be aware of what to look for but anything has the potential to fail.

@@charkswitlazers from normal riding, nothing widespread. 2017s and 2018s had ecu recall, but my 2021 wasn’t covered in that and still had failure. Small batches of kickstand switches causing bike to die or stator going back popped up in the groups from time to time but nothing crazy or consistent enough for me to clearly identify as a common problem.

Sound is blown out in the video. Besides that, most all motorized two wheeled stuff is great. The Grom holds value, is inexpensive enough to be a second or third unit, is small and don't hog up space, can run on most roadways with adequate speed, dirt cheap to run, and holds adults without being smashed into the ground. Not to mention reliable as a stone axe. It doesn't have the stigma of a scooter... which some people might otherwise be bothered about.

Adding Öhlins top of the line suspension; front and rear, along with a proper aluminum frame are the inexpensive upgrades I'd like to see. Rearsets and clip ons along with a full ti exhaustion are also musts. I guess it'll be a zx4rr for me, with CF wheels, a full Evo ti Akra, and some tires. If some crazy fabricator offered a proper frame and swing arm I'd be in. I'm thinking 80 whp with mods. I'll be 62 later this month, so no more modded S1000RRs for me. I'd rather find a Suzuki RG500 Gamma for 20-25k in mint condition, but that's not likely to happen. Sorry, not interested in the Grim at nearly $4k.

If Honda imported it’s CB125R and CB125F models into North America, they would never sell another Grom (yes, I am exaggerating) and it would also reduce sales of their CBR300 and CB300 models. If Yamaha (YZF-R125, MT-125, YZF-R15, MT-15, XSR-15, FZ-S), Kawasaki (Ninja 125, Z125) and Suzuki (GSXR125) did the same there would be no appreciable market for these mini bikes. While in other markets the Grom does co-exist in Honda’s lineup with other 125cc models; in the UK for example there are six Honda 125cc models on offer, including three mini bikes. There are many reasons why riders purchase Groms (including very small riders for whom a Grom is not miniature at all), but the most pertinent of these are affordability (both purchase price and operating costs, i.e., fuel, servicing, etc.) and availability. As new full sized Japanese 125cc motorcycles are generally not sold in the largest markets in North America (i.e., Canada and the USA), availability has been deliberately limited to minibikes, scooters and underbone models such as the Super Cub and Trail 125, all of which are limited in their capabilities, utility and appeal. Very few people would be taking their Honda Grom for a 100km highway trip, let alone riding cross country. While there will always be a contingent of riders to whom minibikes appeal, the majority of riders, whose primary objective is transportation, if presented with a 125cc minibike and a full-sized 125cc motorcycle at a similar price point will opt for the latter. For example the Honda CB125F with its 18” wheels, 70mph top speed and 20% lower price. See the examples below from Honda. As the CBR125R is no longer offered in the UK I have substituted Yamaha’s YZF125R. MSX125 Grom: 9.6hp, 12” wheels. Top speed: 60mph. £3,929 ($4,828 in Canada). www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/125cc/msx125/overview.html CB125F: 11hp, 18” wheels. Top speed: 70mph / 113km/h. £3,149 www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/125cc/cb125f/overview.html CB125R: 15hp, 17” wheels. Top speed: 80mph/130km/h. £4,699 www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/range/street/cb125r/overview.html Yamaha YZF-R125: 15hp, 17” wheels. @@radianman You said "if Honda imported CVR125 and BB125 into North America they would never sell anothrr Grom" - maybe its you thst needs to look at your education. making sweeping statements when you have no idea what people will buy speaks volumes. Most own a Grom + at least one other bike. Chances are even if Honda bring the CBR125 they wont suddenly sell little to no Groms because of the ammount of folks that want to be part of the Grom sub-culture. There are folks who own litre bikes but also own a Grom. ...but yeah you know ALL about what Honda's strategy should be because you know everything about North America 🤦‍♂️🤣
