Finely someone that loves their Grom stock. Amen. I'm 70 and just bought a 2024 Grom. I'm going to leave it stock. I've got a 350 mile trip planned on the secondary roads to Savanna Ga. A1A to highway 17. I'm stoked.

You'd love a sprocket change on this. They all buzz too high in rpms. Swapping out the front 15t sprocket for a 17t, will allow your bike to rev ~10% lower rpm. Same for the rear, you can swap out the rear 34T for a 30-32T, and gain another ~10%, resulting in 20% taller gears. That means 20% lower rpm per any given speed in final gear, and anywhere from 15-20% better mpg even! This is probably the best mod you can make for long rides.

@@ProDigit80 It would not do if you are over 100kg. If you are under 80kg, it is fine. I think Honda configure the Grom's gear ratio for the heavy/obese Americans.

I’ve got the exact same Grom ‘22 SP with 6K+ miles. I’m 71. The only thing I changed was I bought extenders for my mirrors that extend them out almost 2” and they actually say Grom on them. Now I can see past my shoulders both sides. Found them online somewhere. And super easy to install. Other than that all stock still and love it.

Also have a sp 22 . Way better in terms of mechanics over the previous years ( stock ) not as pretty but that can always be changed . 5th gear is most necessary, the fact you can change the oil in minutes now with the oil filter is a big plus as well . Much higher top end (stock ) I’ve hit 75 mph with a full tuck , 60-65 sitting up right . Flat road no wind but I only weigh 125 lbs . Averaging 130 miles to the gallon . About $4 to fill the tank . So for 4 bucks I can go about 200 miles ….. parking is amazing as is commuting so light and small you can pick the bike up with one hand if you need to . Love it

I am a 283lb 75 year old man. I have two other Hondas and traded in my '94 Yam V-max on an all black '23 Grom on 3/1/23. It is not fully broken in yet but I feel 60MPH will be tops for my weight. I think mine will go as fast or faster in 4th gear. The only changes I would make if I were Honda is give the bike self-canceling turn signals and extend the mirrors out an extra inch. My hip will no longer let me swing my leg over a bigger bike and my Grom does just fine.

I also have a 2023 ABS grom i left stock, could not find one in my area, but found one 440mi away in stock, so we did a turn and burn to Iowa from Illinois, picked it up and turned around and headed home the same day. I will never put add ons or mess with the motor, it is just to dependable the way it is, and im 70yrs old, and this little bike is one of the only things that brings me joy, i may buy a small bike with more power, and top speed, but my grom stays stock, and right now its winter, and its sitting in my utility room next to the furnace keeping it nice and warm until riding season again.

I've done the fender eliminator kit and TST rear tailight with integrated turn signals. (You do need their adjustable signal flasher relay for this as well) TST flush mount front signals. Full Pipe, MNNTBX Cool Air Intake, ECU reflash. Moto bars with two finger levers and bar end mirrors. To your point, definitely an easy bike to make your own. I think my next mod will be the Big Bore Kit with a Cam and oil cooler. I generally just cruise back country roads on it and enjoy throwing it around in turns. And, totally agree - wide bars make it super fun! Also, as I've taken OE stuff off and put aftermarket stuff on, I've been weighing the differences. To date, I've shaved around 8.5lbs of weight on the bike. (The OE rear factory license plate dongle alone - good lord - talk about over built!)

This was a great honest review. It's nice that you've had the previous generation to reflect upon. Does the factory exhaust have a section with a small catalytic converter? And would it be feasible to go to an exhaust shop, have a little strip pipe section put in with flanges; so the catalytic converter could be reinstalled if one so desired? It's not so uncommon a thing to have done on cars in California especially Is catalytic converter theft being so high here. I really like the quiet exhaust. I also like getting maximum efficiency. Anyways, happy trails and I hope you're enjoying it on the daily. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to more of your stuff. I just subscribe.

How often do you have to adjust the chain. I don’t do any maintenance on my bike so I’m wondering how often would I need to adjust and lube the chain? I don’t do any wheelies or anything and would never ride in rain (unless I get caught in it) do you go by miles or months….. what would you suggest? Thanks and great video by the way
@armchairbikerstv

The chains that come on these Groms are really cheap and they seem to stretch out almost every ride or two depending on how many miles you do. If you’re ever unsure about chain tension just go ahead and check how much free play there is when you are sitting on the bike by reaching down and moving it up and down

i got a vader 125 which is a really close clone of the SF model and ive had it for almost 2 years. i got it new did the typical deletes and reroutes. then hit it with some mods. ive changed the entire look of the bike by now but its got 6500 miles on it and its been a decent little bike for a clone. definitely would like to step up to an actual grom one day, that SP is so nice looking with the race print and bronze wheels. wanted an MT03 but i really like the convenience the minis offer which is also its biggest downfall. 200lbs wet and an ability to fit into a trunk or backseat.

Got a new Grom a couple of days ago. Still waiting on my helmet before I can take her out. Temps have been in the low 30s at night and high 40s during the day. I've driven it for a few laps in front of the house on new pavement and I have noticed a little bit of "flat spotting" from standing. I checked both tires and they look like new 1 mile tires. The pressure was about 10 lbs low so I topped them off at 33 psi cold today. How many miles at 50 degs F would you think I'd have to drive to warm up the tires and smooth out the flat spotting?
@armchairbikerstv
@armchairbikerstv 2 жыл бұрын
The tires shouldn’t be getting any actual flat spots on them from sitting, old tires that have been sitting for years might get that but certainly not new tires after a few days. Maybe I’m not understanding what you mean, but as long as they’re at the proper pressure you should be good to go. Only thing I have personally noticed is the cheap VeeRubber tires aren’t always balanced well which causes a little tire hop at higher speeds.
