I love Moto Guzzi brand. It's truly a european bike, still assembled in Mandello, Italy. You buy a Moto Guzzi for the brand, one of the oldest brands on the market and #1 in Europe. I would love to buy one, but there are no dealers nor workshops that know Moto Guzzi well enough. I dont know why the Piaggio Group isn't investing their time in making Guzzi more appealing on more markets. Even in Europe it's hard to find a dealer/workshop to trust with your Guzzi bike. People love Guzzi, but are obviously not willing to buy one if there isn't a basic foundation somewhere close. Hell, in Sweden with 11 million people there isn't a single good authorized MG workshop.

For me, the Mandello is still king. I'm not into adventure bikes, but this is a cracking example of the adventure bike breed. That said, why didn't they put that neat rear carrier on the Mandello? The OEM one is hideous, but this one is delightfully simple and functional.

I’m a possibly oddly shaped person, so the rider geometry is vital. I test rode one and it has, for me, the BEST rider geometry I’ve ever felt. The vibration is a problem, for me, and I can’t afford one, but if I could if definitely own one.

Looks like a very compelling option, especially if you like the slight quirkiness of a Guzzi or you want something with that slight bit of Euro exotica. I have to wonder if this will cannibalize the V85TT sales to the point where it won't be worth keeping in the lineup. With the Tuareg, you have what is a more capable and likely less expensive offering from the Piaggio group and then this fill that slightly more premium spot.

Well, as a dealer the V100 has been a fairly trouble free new bike and Moto Guzzi has been pretty quick on the few issues that we've seen. I've owned 4 with almost 100k in total mileage and I will have to say that they have all been pretty well bullet proof when touring including my 17 Stelvio which was my go too when touring. After my last trip to Italy I replaced that with a V85TT that's been my daily rider for the last year. 12000 miles and it's still one of my favorites.

Hmm. Worried this is a little undercooked for the segment. It’s super crowded right now. A diehard Guzzi fan will look no further obvs but is this bike going to win over new-to-brand buyers that could choose from (for instance) the Husky Norden, Tracer GT, KTM 890, new V-Strom, Ducati MTS V2S etc not to mention the V85 or V100 Mandello? Also I’m guessing with the BMW 1300GS out next year, older GS models will be a little bit more of a bargain than usual on the second hand market?

I am in the market for it. Shaft drive, fun engine, I’m assuming comfy seating position. Probably 10k cheaper than the GS (obv. missing some features, but BMW always has those packages that come with stuff you don’t want that you have to buy to get the stuff you do want)

This is by far the best looking Guzzi for a long time. The Mandello doesn’t look quite right to my eye, but this Stelvio is spot on. Unfortunately as usual Guzzi have got here about ten years too late! There will obviously be space in the market for them, I would buy one ahead of most others as a road tourer. But the adventure market is moving rapidly in another directions, smaller, lighter more capable bikes are plentiful now. As always it will sell to those looking for a GS alternative or die hard Guzzi fans, like myself. It does look fantastic, I look forward to trying one.

Any idea what the fuel consumption is like, this was the most disappointing part of the old Stelvio. I average 30mpg around town and 48/49mpg on a run, it has never been better than that. A friend with BMWs always delights in telling me that his bikes regularly do 60mpg or more which would be a more acceptable figure. By the way, these ar British gallons as I am in the UK so my figures are about 10% higher than US mpg. This will not stop me getting one at some point, depending on what the new motor is like when I get a test ride at my dealer later this year. Mark
