This is the return of Stelvio in a very different form. Lots of new tech and segment's best practices used but is that enough to place it in the top of adventure motorcycle segment?
All views are my own and are based on my personal experiences with this Moto Guzzi Stelvio from the early 2024.

I have to disagree with you on your assessment of the Stelvio. Riding and racing motorcyles for close to 50 years, having owned 41 bikes I feel I can say without reservation the Stelvio is one of the best bikes on the market period. I just sold my 22 Ducati Multistrada V4 S Travel and Radar because I much prefer the Guzzi. I find the Stelvio engine to be one of the nicest engines available. Sure it would be awesome to have an addition 15-20hp, but is does a wonderful job as is. Anything above 4500 and the engine pulls strong and smooth, throttle response is excellent, and my engine make a wonderful sound at higher rpms. The Stelvio has better front end feel than the Duc, the Stelvio is more comfortable, and has better ergonomics. I have added heated grips, high comfort seat, quickshifter, and center stand. The Stelvio is definitely one of the best bikes I have ever owned.

Great to hear. I'm looking to switch out my xDiavel (sick of the cruiser configuration) and this bike just sounded and looked like just the thing. I daily city commute and then do the occasional 4-7hr day rides, so being able to stand and stretch would be good.

Aside from the extra height, is the comfort seat noticeably softer/more "comfortable" than the standard seat? I have short legs and I was thinking of getting the standard height heated comfort seat for my Stelvio.

Totally agree--just bought one after test riding a load of bikes including the 1200 Tiger, V-Strom 1050 and Yamaha Tenere. The Tiger is hilariously fast, but the Guzzi is not for behind on performance, handles well and is a joy to ride. Perhaps this test bike is a duff one...

Is this guy actually evaluating the Moto Guzzi? I rode this bike and I don’t know where this guy is coming from. I’ve owned quite a few bikes in my life and it is one of the best handling bikes. I have lived in Italy and I could definitely tell you that I have ridden some bikes, everything from French, Spanish, Japanese, German, Ukrainian, Taiwanese…anyway you get the point. The only negative would be that it needs about 15-30hp more but that’s it.

And what would those French, Spanish, Ukrainian and Taiwanese bikes be? Handling may be subjective up to some point until you test other motorcycles. Then it's not really in my eyes. I've been fortunate enough to be able to put time and effort to try them all and here are my conclusions. It's not there on top of the large adv bikes category for the reasons explained in the video. And I've got no personal interest to praise other motorcycles. Try the others and you'll see where the differences are.

I have Stelvio for 5000 kms now and to be honest I don't know what is this guy talking about. It is similar nonsense as with V85 :-) The only thing I agree is big clunk when engaging first gear, but it is a feature so no worries here. Sorry V Told, but this is "again" complete out of reality :-D and yes I have ridden a lot of competitors. I have ridden many many motorcycles and Stelvio is one of the best till now....

I think most motorcycle reviewers try to put all bikes in certain categories and most fit into their respective categories however, Moto Guzzi produce motorcycles that look like they are for 'this or that' category but in fact Guzzi present their version of a motorcycle for 'that' category..It's a Guzzi made by Guzzi for those who want a Guzzi.. if you want a bike from 'this or that' category then buy another brand Guzzi do things their way and always have, take it or leave it. It's absolutely NOT a GS.!
@VToldsMotoShow
@VToldsMotoShow 2 ай бұрын
I see where you're coming from but in the end of the day one won't avoid comparing it to some other motorcycles and this won't look favorable for Moto Guzzi. It's not a Rolls-Royce either than can keep manual air conditioning adjustment instead of automatic and still be on top despite this being in fact a downside of the car. Today, in such a competitive market with other European brands really nailing it, it requires a true Moto Guzzi fan to choose this brand over others. Still, clearly there's a market for that and it's great.

Nope, the same comments appeared after I rode Moto Guzzi V85 TT and it was an official Moto Guzzi press bike. There's nothing flawed about it I believe, just the way it is - not competitive. But then it depends whether we do care about being competitive or just want a Moto Guzzi. As for the engine and its power delivery, this is a hard no from me. Compared to everything else and what it presents on paper, it should be much more enjoyable in my opinion.

I think allot of these disagreeing commenters forget that they're not bike reviewers. Meaning that they don't have the ability to try out a bunch of brand new bikes all the time. If you like your Stelvio, that's great! But that doesn't make it an excellent bike.

Sorry, but you don't need to be a bike reviewer... just see other channels, he is alone against the world... He most probably got a fluke bike... he evens says so at minute 15 (it feels like two ceramic or metal parts are rubbing against eachother)... that is definetly an indication of something is wrong... probabbly the shaft is broken/mislaigned and kiiling all the power of the bike due to friction.

I was very fortunate to buy used v100 and guess what. It was from 63 year old guy with lots of touring experience that actually bought Stelvio as a replacement. If v100 gets so many positive reviews and can convince many non-guzzi riders then how it happened that this bike is so underrated here. It would be stupid to argue when I wasn't riding this exact model but I was sitting on this bike and for someone with 184 cm it's quite compfy. Comfort wise the only thing I didn't like was that handlebars were too close which was causing very upright position. On the other hand adventure bikes aren't my favourite type and many riders are looking for such position. Just like Witold said, test this bike (ask for longer ride, 2h at least). After watching this review you may be positively surprised.

As with any bike one should watch every review, there’s always a consensus. A few reviews will go either end of it. Not surprisingly either. This is the case for every subjective situation. I can’t exactly remember what the other reviews said but I seem to remember most complaining about the gearbox and quick shifter. And it is too heavy. Personally I think it is a truly beautiful bike and would like to own one but for several reasons I would buy the Suzuki 800re. Cost, dealer network (I live in rural Australia) parts availability, running costs, insurance costs, ability to do more maintenance than I could on the V100, I assume.

@@VToldsMotoShow Partly this is a category problem, you're classing it as a heavyweight because it is heavy, which is definitely a fact worth noting. The more relevant categories are price and horsepower. At $16,400 it should be compared to the Tiger 900 and Africa Twin, for example, and it compares favorably there IMO. Those were the bikes I considered and rejected in favor of this bike for my summer riding in the US. Those bikes also have more comparable horsepower to the Moto Guzzi. (In Thailand for the rest of the year, I ride a Tiger 1200, and no doubt it has more power, better brakes, better suspension, a quickshifter, heated grips, center stand, etc., but it is also more than 50% more expensive.) I traded in a Kawi Versys 1000 (covid era purchase, it was what was available) for this bike, and the two have almost the same engine displacement and rated horsepower. But the Moto Guzzi feels so much more powerful and engaging to ride, despite being considerably cheaper. My main criticism of your review is after 3:50 you say that the engine is not exciting, you have to have the throttle completely open to have any excitement. That is completely different to my experience and makes me wonder if there was something wrong with the bike you rode. I get great power down low, in fact it lugs better than the Tiger 1200. And there is some neck snapping acceleration in the mid to upper revs, it's very exciting, more so than the Tiger 900 or Africa Twin. On the suspension, I somewhat agree, this is the main weakness of the bike. I'm still playing with it so I may find a good setting, but it's primitive for what otherwise feels like a premium product. Hopefully they will fix that next year with a semi-active suspension option. Disclaimer: I am not a Moto Guzzi "fan," I am a first time Guzzi owner and came to this purchase purely on my perception of the merits.

The place I find Guzzi missed out on, is the fact that we do not have the "NTX" version of it. So, if this particular would be the base Stelvio, then I would like to have one with either active suspension or with high end manual settings. And 25-28l tank with all the electronics package added too. Then yes, it would be very expensive, but so are the other "premium" machines and at this level I too was a little disappointed from the performance. I had 1290 before and now Ducati multi, really loved to play with the idea of stelvio, but performance wize it is not up there and kit is a bit shallow. Price of course is nicer than beemer or duca, that cost almost a car. But its funny about the torque, I found that it pulls very nice from bottom. just lacks the revs and top.

On my test ride across some fairly bumpy back country roads I felt the bike was hard to control and extremely harsh. On a test ride you don’t get to adjust the suspension! I don’t recognise the comments about the motor as I found it grunty and rapid. Certainly faster than an Africa twin. I agree the front brake could be better calibrated and the gear box into first is interesting. It’s nearly there but needs some more development. It will be interesting to see how the S version with the electric suspension performs.

A very nice review ‼‼👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Let's take one thing out of our system : This bike looks like no other - in a positive way. It is, also, very comfortable ( on +/- ok roads ). It handles very well.... BUT I think Piaggio has made a strategic mistake, by NOT including the ACC and the QS. Center stand - for easier maintenance, would also be nice to have. It is ( unlike the 1300GS ) very top-heavy, not very economical, and with ( possibly on the next gen ) electronic suspension + all the mentioned above, it will be at, around, the 1300GS price tag ! Then - the looks - will, probably, be the only argument to buy this bike 🤷‍♂

It does look good to me too but today it's indeed not enough to be truly competitive.

I'm not sure if I'm going to do that. It looks like a generic bike to me and at this level I don't think I'm ready to validate that by trying and reviewing it. Chinese manufacturers are getting better but I have a slight feeling that they may still fail in some areas and until they're 100% competitive, I think I'm going to leave them aside.

I think in some aspects about the cfmoto bikes you’r not considere them to match the level one manufactures before you try them it’s kind of out of fear my friend,cfmoto it’s become so popular in USA , Australia, uk , and so many countries around the world, give it shot, your thoughts so important for us

@@VToldsMotoShow And what are those areas? 800mt is the best value bike a money can buy, with 790 ktm engine and good specs, 8inch tft with apple car play and android auto (you cant get that even on 1300gs), heated seat, grips, cruise control, QS...for 11k euro...I'm sure they are more than competitive that any other 11k bikes.

@@VToldsMotoShow man... CFMOTO is the only chinese brand that is betting their own name on world market. All the other chinese factories are hidding behind some know brand from the past. This means everything, Just test it... don't be afraid of embracing the chinese borg. they have 曲奇饼!. that shit is so snub.
