Totally compares. It’s a milestone in your cycling career and this was a milestone in theirs. “Only one thing is sure in long distance cycling - if you feel tired and sad, you’ll feel better later; if you feel happy, enjoy it because you’ll have a down later.” [Mark Beaumont, round the world cycling record holder]

I needed this today, I’m so close to giving up, my life is chaos around me and the summer events and cycling and triathlons which have turned things around for me are ending, but I needed to see this is why I need to keep eating even when it feels like there’s no point. This is the point. Well done any and Kyle. I don’t know you but super proud of you both! Come cycle with us in sheffield some time!

BRILLIANT. You did it 3 or 4 years ago can you imagine cycling from. Italy to Derby? Even now that must seem fantastical. Not sure why you did it in as short a time as you did, but no doubt you explained that. I am so pleased for Team Amy and Kyle. Hurrah!!!! Favourite bits? I thought Col du Lauteret was up there. The slog from Lyon .... all the way .. was immense. So sorry couldn't hook up with you in London. Oh, tried the donating page but there was only Apple Pay or Google Pay. I have neither. Is there an alternative?

Beautiful people! You two, of course, and your mum & dad. Then there is the lovely Laura who is full of beans, and the men of Derby who all appear to have exceptional facial hair! Thank goodness the women don't. The early hilly section is my part of the world - you were in the northern section - from my point of view. Having looked at your Strava route you missed LOADS of hills! I'm not saying what you did wasn't hilly, just that you missed some of the glories that are the Chilterns! Heaven on earth, I think
