As much as I love your content, you have to remember that I dare say other things come first in life, whilst making sure that you ride your bike because you enjoy it and want to, not because you feel you have to!!! Great video, well done on the ride and especially well done Tom, brilliant. Ben, a question with no real answer I suppose as it depends on the individual but how long did it take you to get up to 30kph average and be ok with that or have you always been able to hold that type of speed? I do a lot of mtb and recently some more road riding but here in the peaks I cannot break 23-24kph on rides 2 hours and above. I did head over to Nottinghamshire and get a ride in over 100k more around 25kph where it is a little flatter but it's a long way off 30kph and I feel like I'm just going to be way too slow to join a cycling club. And have to add, we are all really very lucky to get individuals like yourself making great content for us to watch, at the sacrifice of your own family time and stress levels, I'm sure. We will all still be here when you come back, whether that's two weeks, a month or more, be happy, keep riding...
@benjaminlechappers3 ай бұрын
Hi, average speed means nothing. As much as I put it in the thumb nail it’s to grab attention. I only averaged 169 watts on that ride, the guys on the front near 200 watts. Average speed depends on wind, stop starts, traffic lights, hills. It’s so variable. My advice would be to ride and enjoy and generally you will get fitter. I did the same route for years and never got faster. I only got faster when I joined a club. It pushed me to keep up. When you think you’re done you’re probably not. As they say the pain never goes away you just get faster. Hope this helps Thanks for your support and thanks for your contribution 👊🏽
@creativechimp033 ай бұрын
@@benjaminlechappers thanks so much for the detailed response. Yes perhaps on reflection I'm letting it stop progression in many ways. I probably need to just join a club and see if I can keep up. I think I've been guilty of seeing club riders cycle past and thinking they won’t be interested in a slower member hence I always just rode solo and never bite the bullet and then just think why am I not getting any faster. Now go get some chill time with the fam. Enjoy the break.
