Cycling is definitely hard on the back... period. It puts you in an unnatural position that is inherently a strain on the back and then adds to these already 'straining' muscles the load of doing the hard work of pedaling. But so what?!... the joy of cycling is well worth taking the time and care to counter-act these negative effects. This is a great video in showing the graphics of the problem. In my experience, the only solution, besides the tips shown here, is to pay close attention to the 'discomfort' signals that your back is sending you long before this discomfort turns into pain. Once it hits the level of pain, it's too late, the damage is done and you're in for a serious stretch of healing-time. And if you try to 'ride through' the pain, as I once did, that healing might take weeks or months. No fun. Thanks for this fine presentation.

Most videos do not mention saddle angle for low back pain but it makes sense.

Done a road ride day before yesterday with saddle slightly tipped down. Day after and my back is sore. So what I’ve experienced is contrary to the advice in this video. My saddle is quite far forwards, so will take another look at that as well as saddle height too

It solves low back pain but causes other problems namely in the wrists, neck and shoulders. Seat height is far more important than simply tilting a saddle.

I find the whole concept of leaning so forward extremely stupid! Watching in movies, professional competitions, etc. I always wondered how they can maintain the same posture without any pain in their back! I would get pain in my back just by looking at them LMFAO!!
