Appreciated the check engine light analogy. Can it be said that the facet injection is "more" of a root cause treatment of a painful facet? Thus, it would be best to do a facet injection first? What I'm thinking is that my arthritic facet joint was aggravated and inflamed by a certain activity. My understanding is that inflammation can become a bit self perpetuating. By calming the inflammation with a steroid it breaks the cycle. I get that it doesn't cure the arthritis but it does cure the current inflammation. Also, that going forward, this arthritic joint could be re-inflamed by some other activity.

My right triceps smaller and far weaker than my left but can still do ADLs. Can’t even do more than 3kg of tricep extension. Is that normal, Dr. Shim?

I’m hurt my SI joint by using a ladder for 7 hours a day for a few weeks along with twisting on the ladder. It seems like something that would fix itself after babying it for a month or so, but it gets aggravated very easily and will hurt for a week after.

I had l4-l5 and l5-s1 issues. I often got dizziness and back pain. I used to get tired with a short numbness in the calf area of my legs. The doctor suggested some meds initially and hopefully surgery later. My Physiotherapist friend told me to get physiotherapy done along with specific exercises. By god's grace, I am recovering well. I started my recovery journey 1.5 months back. The best thing is that I don't feel dizzy at all due to my back problem, and the pain has substantially gone. Hopefully, I will be 100% better and back to normal soon. Please don't go for surgery unless it is the last resort. Please see a good physiotherapist first and be regular in doing exercises.

I had mine done yesterday. I was scheduled for 7:30 am at the hospital. I was told to arrive two hours early (@ 5:30 am). I was on a bed waiting the entire time thinking about my kids and possibly something going wrong (my wife made me watch "The Resident" on Netflix with her 😂😂😂). I got a iv put into my arm by the nurse and rolled into surgery at 8:00 am. I was put to sleep at I'm assuming 8:10 am, had the Laminectomy Microdisectomy and woke up at 11:00 am. I had to wait an hour in recovery due to the anesthesia and nasaue and got back home around 1:00 pm. I dont feel any pain in my left leg anymore but my lower back, left butcheek and throat are really sore. I was dehydrated because I had to fast 8 hours prior to surgery, had a nasty headache, and currently very hot. They told me a slight fever was possible. Do not lay on your stomach, only your back and side when sleeping. I know it doesn't make sense but laying on my back is the most comfortable or on my right side which is the oppisite side of my disk herniation. But it is Day 1 after surgery..hopefully this long descriptive post helped someone.

I went to Laser Spine Institute in Scottsdale in 2016. I had pain that began as a neck ache and developed into debilitating pain radiating down the right arm to the fingertips. I was approved for surgery by both my insurance and LSI and felt extremely lucky to be in such good hands. The doctors showed me before my operation the images of what he was going to do with the laser. I had stenosis in C6 and C7 and after the procedure it was just like the commercial. I had a small incision and no more pain! Yes they had to cut through some muscle but it was an easy 6-week recovery and I am very grateful for the experience.

Hey guys, 6 months in, and im back to squating, and deadlifts. Going from 1rm of 200kg squat to around 170 due to relearning the movement and from a 240 to 200. not in pain but it still kind of aches. You need to keep moving (walking, bending down). Just try to move as normal. You need to flex your back and strengthen surrounding muscles. I'll give you a 1 year update message in 6 months from now

This is literally one of the least informative "informational" videos ever made and you should be fucking embarrassed that you even made it! "You may or may not benefit from a disc replacement OR maybe you would be more or less better off with a fusion BUT you may be better off just suffering and doing nothing. YOU figure it out.". HUH??? We watch this video hoping that YOU had the fucking answers. This video may as well not even exist for how useless it is.

What’s the test for this to know for sure? I’m seeing my pcp soon and I want to bring this up. This entire MONTH I’ve have sciatica pain for the first time in my life and ir sucks. It truly sucks. I can’t get my freaking socks on by myself because I can’t move my left leg enough without screaming in pain. I wake up with it every morning and it takes a good 2-3 hours to ease up and go away for the day. Then next morning boom it’s back!! From my lower back straight through my butt and down my left leg I’m definitely thinking it’s sciatica

Key takeaway these days is finding a competent doctor in this useless profit based health care system. I no longer go to the doctors office but will make an exception for things like heart attack, stroke, broken bones, or uncontrolled bleeding. Everything else I take care of myself.

I’ve had that pain it is the headache from hell. You can’t even lift your head not even the slightest bit. I couldn’t even use a pillow cause it lifted my head too much. The problem with it is that it can last you to 10 days it feels as if your skull is going to explode. The change that just Sitting up makes and you wish that it really would explode from the pressure it would feel better.
