Cycling around the world: VLOG 13 - OUT OF SAHARA! - Saint-Louis, Senegal

In this video we finally reach the south edge of the Sahara and are done cycling in the desert! After pushing in harsh conditions for a few months we take a break from cycling and spend some time working on our videos and website in the town of Saint-Louis, Senegal. Matilda ends up in the hospital, and we make many new friends including little Jussi who we adopt from the street. After the rainy season we continue cycling in Senegal towards the Gambia!

We are Peyman and Matilda and since 2018 we are cycling around the world for 10 YEARS, making vlog-style documentary videos about our adventures.
We have cycled from Finland to Africa, and currently we are cycling the west coast towards South Africa and from there to Kenya. After Africa we will start to cross Asia and the Americas.

I think Matilda left one or two broken hearts on her way. I was really worrying the shoemaker spending time looking at her would finish by putting his needle in his own hand (I understand him). But not at all ! He managed to deliver a very nice job and I agree totally with what you say about the shame of wasting. I was so very worried about Matilda. Thank God she's so much better. Those IV fluids really help. I love your philosophy about throwing things away. I'm 62 and long ago there were places, little shops that fixed small appliances. If your toaster or coffee pot broke, they could fix it for a couple of dollars. Now. No one fixes anything. We've become a throw away society. Like Matilda said some people just get something new because they are tired of the old color. In my day if we were tired of the old color we bought paint and changed the color. That was fun. Thank you for trying to teach people about these important things. Many blessings to you. I’ve seen many many Tour Bikecamping videos and subscribed to lots of them-(Pro Touring Darren Alf....Wheels To Wander.......2 Wheel Monkey) but I haven’t seen pple struggle as much as you guys-from fevers......inappropriate lodgings.......road kill for food, Seriously much respect for ROUGHING IT.....but for me part of the fun of Bike Touring is the scenery....beautiful lodgings.....delicious food......activities you encounter along your journeys. Your channel is more about LIFE SURVIVAL than enjoyment of bike riding!

Dear Matilda and Peyman: Great cycling, great journey, great filming, great Vlog! I think you are a great couple, team and touring partners too. Taking good care of each other. An absolute must for such a trip. I wonder, if you ever fight? Other question: How heavy is the luggage on each bike approximately? About throwing things away: Labor in Europe is expensive and the prices for things sometimes too low. So, it's cheaper to buy new, than to repair. The repair of the Crocs would have cost almost the price or even more in Europe. Also: Lot of people live very wasteful. Huge problems!

When you get sick in the third world country, first thing the doctor do is injecting a patient with IV fluid. In America, doctor won't use that fluid. The doctor will tell you to take Tylenol or Advil when you're sick. Except ear infection, doctor will prescribe antibiotic. It's great to see Matilda recovery from her fever.

My mom keeps scolding me for not buying new clothes or shoes since I also repair and reuse some stuff.
