I'm stopped riding for about 2 month's, because my new job requires a lot of time plus stress is terrible, make sick I start getting panic attack ,just because I was looking for better salary. I just realized money is not everything in life.....by the end of the day now I have more stress, stop riding my bike and I gain more pounds...I did big mistake changing my life for better life style, well when you body say enough is enough you better listen, right now I planning to go back to my healthy life with less stress and less salary. Can't wait to ride my bike again!

Put the bike on the trainer after work and just turn the pedals for a bout 20-30minutes to take your mind off things. If you don't have even 30minutes a day for yourself, then yeah, it's time to re-evaluate.

Reminds me of the buddhist saying (or something like it) about spending time in nature, switch nature for riding your bike, and hours for what time you need; One should spend an hour in nature every day, unless you’re really busy. Then you should spend two.

For us, busy people, I have one hour of so everyday, but what kept me stop is the thought that I will be exhausted after that intensive 1 hour training and it will ruin my whole busy day, because I have to rest... What can I do? (note: buying a trainer is a very good idea since it will shorten the prep for outdoor cycling and I can still cycling for 1/2 hour only)

@@Sujadilee “....the thought that I will be exhausted after that 1 hour training and it will ruin my whole busy day because I have to rest...” Imho: yes AND no. Yes because sometimes you will be but no because you don’t want and need to train EVERY day intensively. Your body also needs to recover so you will probably want to mix it up with some lighter training. Over time your condition will improve and your muscles will become stronger and accustomed to training regularly. And some days you just don’t want to go all out, listen to your body. But also think of what it does for your mind and soul. Your mind can wonder of to what ever you want, especially if you can get into nature. That is something that is invaluable. Peace of mind, less stress which is also very important for your body. So you do you whether it’s cycling outside or indoors. Start slow and work your way towards a healthier life.

"...It doesn't matter how many miles you ride, what matters is how you ride those miles..." Amen. This is my MO because I do not have much time to ride, but I do the best/most with the time I have - spinning, big gear days, intervals. This video makes me think about a cycling buddy who did a lot of miles this past season (way more than me), but they were the same rides every week, but his legs were gone near the end of the ride (last 18 miles or so) and I had to pull him in on a recent century ride. I had only did two 43 mile rides all season vs his many long distance rides. I was surprised to say the least because I thought his endurance level would've been higher. I felt stronger as the ride went on. I was actually surprised because I just felt good out there. What was ironic is he was constantly asking me if I would be ready for the century ride. This story is just to confirm what you are saying and that I am a big believer of quality or quantity.

Base miles/km's are the rides you do to build or maintain aerobic fitness. Zones 2 is a good place to be in for these types of rides. However, you must throw in there spin intervals, low cadence work, high cadence work, threshold intervals etc. 80% of the ride, zone 2....20% of the ride some intervals of whatever is on the schedule that ride. Eldred does a great job of explaining "base"! Listen and take note...another highly informative video from Dr E himself!

I came across this guys series of videos by accident and I'm glad I did. He talks sense and it's all based on experience instead of theory so you know that ever he says he can walk the walk as well as just do the talk.

Well I have only so far seen a couple of your vids but will subscribe later. Refreshingly direct and honest reviews and poignant advice based on real life knowledge & experience instead of clichéd theories that (shock horror) actually works! A novelty on KZbin! 👍

Not accidental. I was actually asked to start this channel four years ago by my close friend, who suggested I could help more people than the ones I was encountering while riding. The videos reflect who I am in life.

I played basketball, tennis and running most of my life. I transitioned to cycling. Many long distance rides of 300-miles or so. Loved it. Now I’m older in much better shape than most 40-year olds. Then the Pandemic hit. I’m walking 3-miles per day but need more. Which do you prefer, rollers or the basic cycling trainer? Thanks for all you do. I get it.

I am really loving this channel, thanks to videos like this. What do you think about doing zone 5 efforts during the base phase, especially in the 2nd half of a 12 week plan. Do you recommend doing these or do you think they will accumulate too much fatigue going into the build phase? Thanks in advance.

My 12 week plan has specific workouts for those who choose to follow them successfully. I am not sure which plan you're following so I cannot advise you.

Superb video, very informative. May I ask if you have any tips on how to train whilst commuting? This is a large portion of the time I have available to cycle, and I would love to maximise it. Thanks.
