I really hope that you enjoy watching this. It has a much different feel than the series, mainly because I took out the music. I want you to experience it the way we did, without music influencing your emotions. It was a monumental experience for me on so many levels, and I'm forever grateful to Ali for saying yes to this adventure. And even though Ali and I are no longer together, (we're still friends) the advice we got from all these strangers was powerful, and I use that wisdom in every interaction that I have with people. What is your love advice? Please share below.
@theadventurousgeezer3 жыл бұрын
My wife and I have been married for nearly 29 years and we often cynically joke that the secret to a successful marriage is just learning how to put up with each other's crap. I actually think there is some intuitive wisdom in that somewhat off-putting statement. It's so easy to focus on the negative, but instead, we try to look past that and see the positive attributes in each other. So far it's seemed to work for the past 29 years.
@duzer3 жыл бұрын
@@theadventurousgeezer That's actually very solid advice, and I'm on board with that! Sending you both a big hug!

Your partner will always be changing; always growing or decreasing. Find someone with the same values as you, that is growing and spurs you on to growth. This is always balanced with space to let the other person be who they are and not hold onto them (or your ideal of them) too tightly; otherwise you will suffocate them. It’s two seemingly conflicting ideas, bet there is a balanced tension between the two. Challenge each other but except each other. (7 year married and two kids into the adventure)
@32532jfbk3 жыл бұрын
@@theadventurousgeezer I like the key to your statement. Look at the positive. (And assume the other person has good will for you)

Life without love is not impossible however it is a low level of human consciousness, like War, is hell... love is the first great gift of life... Yet relationship alone is not our ultimate purpose, at this moment in history, we all have a greater calling, to confront... every day that passes while Justice is being obstructed, the fabric of our false fictional reality contains a little less love... This challenges the wholeness of each of our individual beings, makes us wobbly, and less likely to have a firm footing for commitment to having something left over, for someone else. We are all struggling... in the womb we learn to love ourselves and life itself first, before we actually even meet anyone else... And that's something that we should give ourselves permission to hold onto firmly throughout life. And we all need to come to an urgent Epiphany in a timely fashion... Collective Consciousness rising to a critical mass, understanding the problem and seeing the solution... We are all like Oliver now asking for more porridge from the bullies... We have to make our standing Military Officers understand, that we understand that they, and no one else holds the keys, the Constitutional keys, to peacefully and constitutionally , ending the abuse of both our military and civilians., the flora and fauna and Planet itself.. all of the years combined to this moment, and justice, judgment and dignity are long overdue to arrive... have you ever seen the movie Blue Velvet? We are stuck in the middle of that movie and need to get onto the ending. Where love is restored and the birds can sing. The Secret Of Love Is Love thyself first... And then love everyone else equally.., LOL except the fascists they have some punishment to face... We don't have to make it intentionally unpleasant.... some people need tougher love than others

oh man this takes me places. Watching this gets me reminiscing about my own start in cycling. I started watching your videos sometime before this series, I got my own bike (a Trek 920) in february in 2018 as a means to end my unhealthy lifestyle, be active and "Getting out there!" It was tough, and the first few months, especially starting cycling in the winter in Iceland didn't make it any easier. My interest in cycling and staying active was kind of getting to a low point. Then a turning point happened. Summer came along, biking got easier, I started noticing progress and Love Cycles came out. It all got me much more motivated and I started spending a lot more days in the saddle, miles started racking up and touring on my bike didn't seem a far distant goal anymore. Now in 2021 I am a much healthier person, a keen cyclist and I ride my bike most days and rack up the miles, and have gone on bike tours every summer and went out exploring. Two goals this summer which is to complete a mile century on my roadbike and tour the Westfjords here in Iceland. The Love Cycles series also inspired me to ask my grandparents about their relationship. They had been together for nearly 70 years and while sadly my grandmother passed away in september of that year, then I will always cherish one of my last conversations with her which was inspired by Ali and Ryans quest for love advice. To put it simply, stay together, act as one, be inclusive in all your decisions, cherish the time you spend together and have each other interest at heart in every aspect of your lives. That was probably my last lucid conversation I had with her, and for that I will always be grateful. We need more space in our hearts for love, compassion, empathy and thoughtfulness towards one another. The message this series brings to its audience is exactly what we need, joy towards one another, finding love, even though it does not last, is time not wasted but to be cherished as that brought happiness and fulfilment into your heart. Bringing love to another person who appreciates it, will always bring joy into your life. Making someone smile brings you closer to them and creates a connection towards one another that may or may not last the rest of your lifetime, either way it is to be cherished, preserverd and admired. Thank you Ryan and Ali for creating this, series like these can have a profound impact on someone's wellbeing and quality of life. Please know that you have made a huge difference in mine. Best wishes from Iceland Andri Freyr

Dude I watched this video then I went and watched the whole damn series, mostly twice, cause I accidentally slept through some of it haha. I can't even count the amount of times I cried watching these videos. I plan on cycling the 800 mile Arizona Trail in October and as a very single, somewhat lonely guy your trip is the type of thing I dream about. As you mentioned there's those moments during the trip where you wish that you could share the experience with someone. And sadly those moments just make it tougher as the reality sets in that you're completely alone and usually isolated somewhere deep in the backcountry miles away from anyone... These videos made me happy and gave me hope that someday maybe I will have that opportunity. Also glad that you got to experience it as I watch some of your other videos you also seem to be kind of doing your own thing. In any case great videos man, well shot, great editing, perfect song choices, storytelling had great flow, etc. Keep spinning those pedals man and hope to see you on the trail in the future! Yeww! =D

Enhorabuena Ryan

I didn't notice that there wasn't music. But I did notice that I could hear the birds. Thanks for pointing that out. It's actually really nice to just hear the sound of being on the road.

Thanks for making these videos and sharing them with us. They are very well done! I understand Dana wanting to go ahead and ignore the strangers warning. It's so funny because I would be talking about how glad I was to have had the luck to meet him before going even further and having to turn around. No reason to not trust him when he says he wouldn't try with an ATV going that way.

What a fantastic vid. If the World would hear what you and the People you met say about love it would certainly be a better place. Bought tears to my eyes to hear what you heard on your trip. You should do a World Tour and spread the Love. AGAIN GREAT vid and thx for sharing it. Just wonderful.

When I first stumbled upon your channel a year or 2 ago, as a chef I thought your bean meals were pretty nasty. Now it's almost like I can't stop thinking about having a cold bean burrito. Your enthusiasm about them (and in general) is infectious! Keep em coming. These long edits without music are amazing.

I really really loved this video. It inspired me to go on my first overnight bike trip actually. It also reminded me that the world is full of beautiful, nice and interesting people and that we shouldn't be afraid of exploring and meeting strangers. So thank you so much Ryan! Tomorrow I will be biking along the east and then north coast of Sealand in Denmark, starting from Copenhagen and I will for sure be thinking of you and Ali :)

Thanks so much for this video. I biked east to west in 1988 with six strangers. We also had so many great experiences. I never tire of talking about my trip. 1988 was a drought year; we didn’t have one day of rain until Seattle! I just wonder: who took all the video and how did they do all the long shots? Leaving for a big tour on Friday and had to watch your videos every day. Leaving summit county Colorado for Portland then to the Canadian boarder. Riding my bike from Washington to the Mexican boarder then over to Florida. Leaving with pretty much nothing and making a small video on the kindness of others. I can't wait. Edit: forgot to say how much i loved this video. Might be your best. Im a sucker for love so i get it.
