i did a similar journey in January 2017 flying my bagged bike (Ryanair) and panniers into Malaga and two weeks later out at Faro, Portugal, via Ronda, Sevilla, Huelva.. . crossing the Guadiana by ferry to Villa Real de San Antonio. Edit: Looking at you excellent video I m guessing you used Maps. Me for navigation as it regularly brings one off road onto walking trails.

Just don't go in July you might melt from the heat. Seems like an awesome trip. My wife is from Madrid and if we move back to Spain is definitely love doing a tour in the South. Cheers!

Hi, It looks as though the region is rather hilly and mountainous but the route looks reasonably flat, is this so ?

As long as yoy follow valleys and old railway lines there is not much climbing

@@PaulvanRoekel Thank you, is it a designated cycle route or did you find the route yourself with maps etc, and how did you get to and from Malaga ?
@PaulvanRoekel5 жыл бұрын
@@brianoreilly239 the complete route is home made connecting interesting cities we wanted to visit. The Via Verdes are designated bike routes up to 120 km long. We flew in and out of Malaga from the Netherlands.

Thank you for filming and sharing your journey, pleasure to watch. Pity about the broken rim, ouch! Glad to see your bikes were welcome on the train. I’m planning a safe cycle trip in this area, especially Servilla to try out the infrastructure, and Cordoba for the cultural history, and looking forward to the off road and quiet roads in between, so this really helps 👍 May I ask, what were the most enjoyable sections of your journey, and any tips for a confident first timer doing up to 30 miles per day?

I would like to take that tour on a recumbent trike. An HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS or an AZUB Ti-Fly would be perfect.

Your website is inspiring. Thank you for the great video of your trip in Andelucia. You uploaded your route, but would you please share the distance you traveled and for how long did it take you? What was your average KM per day? Thank you for responding.
@PaulvanRoekel6 жыл бұрын
This trip was approx. 1000 kms in 16 days (so about 60 avg per day) of pure cycling and several extra days for visiting Granada, Ubeda, Cardoba and Sevilla.

It's such a pity the quality of the camera was not that great. What camera or mobile phone was it? It must have been fabulous scenery to ride through and see properly. Also never tour with rim brakes always have a bike with disc brakes and then you never have to worry about worn out rims - splitting and wheel failure.
@PaulvanRoekel6 жыл бұрын
It was a Contour Roam2 camera.

What kind are those small bags hanging off the back of the rear panniers?
@PaulvanRoekel6 жыл бұрын
These are very handy small bags to store items that you want to have within reach such as a bike lock. Or to store smelly items such as the fuel bottles for our stove.

How long did it take you to figure out the exit from Malaga airport was through the tunnel? I was an hour biking around the airport perimeter and eventually had to ask a taxi driver. Fortunately, my Spanish was still good from years ago living in Latin America.
