Great video, thanks. I used to cycle everywhere in the 90's before I left High School and got a car, now I hardly ever cycle. Hoping to get back into it, but having a 20kg mountain bike isn't very good. I also live in Maylands, attempted the East Perth Bridge to Garrett Rd Bridge loop, took me nearly 90 minutes and I was completely shattered afterwards, including a sore bottom lol. Hoping to swap it for a proper road bike, but nothing too fancy, so it'll motivate me into getting back into cycling. This video is an inspiration to me, and I hope to be able to do the same trip as well as you have done. Thanks :)

we all start from somewhere, In 2004 i got back on a bike after a long time off of it, also a heavy mountain bike, I don't think i made it even 100m from the house before needing to stop and dry wrench on all fours. before long I was cycling 65km loops around the river as well as riding to work. Thats currently dead now since i changed jobs and i refuse to tend with the trucks on Alexander drive. Gotta get back into it.

Same here mate! I'm just getting back into cycling here in Sydney. Same boat as you, got a great Giant Boulder MTB but it's heavy and not great riding on the road. I did a ~30km ride the other day and was shattered too. Also hoping to get a proper road bike in the coming months. They're expensive though.

Some beautifully segregated paths and it seems like you weren't slowed down by using them at all!
