Since there was a lot of noise, either the traffic or the wind, I decided to add subtitles so you just need to activate it on the video (on the definitions).

as a viennese and cyclist i can say, that you got a very good guide, his knowledge of history was spot on. only thing i would add: you really have to bike up the hills on the western side, where the turks were defeated. not because of history, but because of the incredible view over vienna. brought relatives from australia there this winter and also others before, all amazed.

I’m originally from Trieste and your guide correctly said, it was belonging to Austria in the past and my city was the most important harbour of the empire. I’d add that Trieste gave itself to Austria in 1382 to escape Venezia dominion and stayed and flourished until 1918, when it was conquered (Italians would say “liberated”) by Italy. So when my co-citizens in Milano, ask me why I am so “German-minded”, I answer “we have 500 years of Austrian heritage and only 100 years of Italian one”. PS: great city Vienna, I love it!

Good to know that the trees are registered, in India too we have trees which are numbered. I live in Chandigarh in Punjab, north India, and all trees are numbered by the government. Even the ones in our home which we planted such as silver oak have all been numbered and we can’t cut them. The horticulturists comes to prune these trees once in a while. Good way of mitigating carbon

Amazingly informative video. I also love what you did with the maps, especially the effect changing from modern image to historic map! But your guide confused some things that embarass me: * The statue he told said is Prince Eugene is acutally Archduke Charles (also written down there) who defeated Napoleon in the battle of Aspern. Prince Eugene who defeated the turks in battles a century earlier is the other one standing on his tail. * The city fortifications you show in the imagery have been built after the first Turkish siege of Vienna because the medieval walls wouldn´t be able to withstand cannonballs so well. The new fortifications have been state of the art in the 16th century and that´s the reason why st. stephan´s cathedral never got the 2nd tower. All the workers in the city had to finish the new walls. There was also still lots of cavalry around when the walls got finally torn down in the 1860s... they were just seen as anachronism. * and of course the Polish king Jan Sobieski did not save Vienna all alone in the 2nd Turkish siege in 1683. But he brought most of the cavalry and did the final strike to win that battle. Anyways, great work! :)

I mean, I'm a cyclist and from Vienna and I'm generally rather proud of my city but "a paradise for cyclists" and "sorry Amsterdam and Copenhagen" is a bit much. It's fine, you can get around by bike pretty well, there's decent infrastructure for cyclists and cars usually don't actively try to kill you but it's not a paradise and it's far from AMsterdam and Copenhagen
