The adventure goes up a notch! I cycle for hours in complete solitude through the Norwegian forests until I find a pretty idilic camp spot. The following day I get myself into a pickle with some snow and the mountains.

Fantastic scenes, I was lucky enough to drive around the Western Fjords in October, beautiful country!

Wow-what an adventure! My heart sunk for you when you panned to the shot of the impassable snowfield. What luck you had the option of the train to bypass all that. You always keep an even keel and adapt on the fly. Good job, that! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the trip.

Cracking scenery, hell of a ride, wish the trains in the U.K. had cycle facilities like the Norwegian railway

@@WestGoesEast Good idea :-) Perhaps late July or August would be the best choice. It varies from year to year when the snow melts and the cycling season can start. It is common to be snow on parts of the road until well into July.

Hi Phil! I felt really sorry for you on the snow covered track! And very happy that you turned around and took the train to Voss. We have some very remote areas in Norway, and to be stranded in the snow - and also perhaps without mobile signal is not safe. But you seem to have an adventure anyway, and you make the best of it whatever you encounter. I am also glad you didn't meet a moose. They can actually be dangerous if they feel threatened. (We also have some bears and wolves, but very few, and they are not in that area :-) ). Welcome to Bergen!

Didn't know about the bears and wolfs! 😳
