Great to see you challenging yourself. It’s pure natural dark peak beauty on the fringes of some big northern cities. I enjoyed climbing Dovestones when I was there last July - the view is sublime.

Thanks, Neil. Clocked just over 5,200ft for the ride which is a lot for me at the moment but didn't feel too bad at the end (which was encouraging!). Yes that Dovestones view really is sublime, certainly exceeded my expectations and one to do again for sure.

I’m loving the music as you take a break from talking, any chance you can let us know who it is when you have time. Thanks.

Thanks, John. I used a track by Visitants on this one (called 'I will be'). It certainly won't be to everyone's taste but it's nice to hear some positive feedback on the tunes. Happy cycling! 🙂

Thanks, Matt. I can really imagine the weather turning up there and having to get off the tops quick sharp! Enjoy the rematch if you do it! Lots of gears, slow and steady etc. Happy cycling!

I've cycled quire a bit around Saddleworth, but only climbed Holme Moss for the first time last year. As you say the weather can change pretty quickly up there. It started to spit with rain whilst at the summit and by the time i was heafding back towards Dovestones it was a torrential downpore. I dont think any cycling water proofs would have kept me dry, woukd have needed to dress like a trawlerman to have any hope of keeping dry!😂

🤣 Yep, I think when it's hammering it down the best you can hope for with waterproofs is a bit of extra warmth and wind protection.

I agree mate. Dovestones is a spectacular climb. I really enjoy pushing my self on that beast. It’s a toss between that and cragg for my favourite for different reasons. One things for sure we live in a really good place for cycling but we have to embrace the hills and coming from a 18 stone cyclist that’s saying a lot 😂

Definitely, mate. Brilliant options in every direction and we're lucky to have it all on the doorstep. I thought Dovestones was quite deceptive in the second half as it opens up and you feel the road is levelling out a bit ... but it really isn't! A nice illusion that keeps you working hard right to the top - stellar views though all the way! 🙂

Loving the videos, they are getting better and better. I get intimidated to cycle west from Leeds because of the same hills but have started to dip my toe into the water by Emley Moor

Thanks for the nice feedback, Andrew. It's a great area to explore on the bike (albeit quite tough). But slow and steady works for pretty much all the hills in the area (I keep telling myself, anyway!). 🙂 Happy cycling!

Nice vid pal :) Old stomping ground... Doverstones Edge! We must have climbed together on that back in't day youth?
@onemorecyclist6 ай бұрын
Indeed we did, mate. Circa 2007 (wow, time flies)! Must of been getting a bit more ambitious after all those evenings at Wilton! Was looking at the tops and the walk in when cycling past - never remembered it being that far or steep! 🙂

You turned to early for the full Holme moss mate. We will go ride it when you feel like it. I’ve got a great route round there. I’m still watching as I forget when I want to say 😂

My legs might disagree it was an early turn ;), but it will be great to go back and do the full section.

@@onemorecyclist give me a shout next week and we could go do it as a evening ride. Would be a late return home but it’s almost light till 10 now

Great video again, loving your adventures and especially seeing the boardman bikes out and about👏 I cycled from Birmingham to Bradford and came from the side you turned back from. Which is a decent climb from that side🚵 are you using a wahoo model gps? And what map routing site are you using for your maps. Many thanks 👍
@onemorecyclist6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the nice feedback, it's much appreciated. Yes, been using a little Wahoo Element bolt for the last 7 years or so with route planning via Komoot. Does the job and all syncs up nicely nicely for what I need. Happy cycling!
