It takes a lot of dedication to shoot videos while cycle touring, which in itself is very energy/focus/time consuming too, I always try to do so and carry all that extra electronic gear with that intention, but every-time I fail, finding all the challenges of a cycle-touring adventure already a handful to deal with, carrying and breaking expensive gear with no real output to show for.... So well done for yet another beautiful video, always leveling up your skills, thanks for taking us along !
@WheelstoWander2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Charlie! It helps a lot that we're doing it together, we also divide the editing. And to be fair there's a lot of good filming opportunities that we miss too... if we're tired or are in a hurry to find a campsite etc. Much respect for people that doing it solo 👌It takes a lot of effort & time!

Heading North out of Cornwall is hilly all the way to Bristol and beyond. It gets easier as you approach the Midlands on the West, then Cheshire flattens out a lot (on the West). If you head East, towards Derbyshire/Yorkshire then you'll hit the Peak District and the Pennines. That's tough cycling.... but worth it for the scenery.

Wonderful to see you exploring my home country! I hope you can spend some time in the county of Norfolk during your trip. Norfolk has a strong historic connection with the Netherlands, we have many historic towns named after dutch people and our landscape is very similar to the Netherlands, very flat and full of dutch designed windmills! Norfolk was home to many protestant dutch refugees during the reformation. These dutch refugees (Known as 'The Strangers') became an essential part of the British weaving industry in places like Norwich. Norwich still has many streets, houses and monuments dedicated to them.

I really appreciate the additional information you add to your videos. When I was watching this one I had a dialogue going in my head about the stone walls and tors and then you would talk about those aspects. Very nice. The house I lived at in Cornwall was called Tor. It was just down the field from a tor and the yard and farm yard were surrounded by 6 foot dry stone walls that were hundreds of years old. There are some young people getting involved in reviving the knowledge, repairing, and building of these walls. Thanks for highlighting them.

So happy to see you embark on a new adventure. You really capture the sense of nervous anticipation you get when starting a new tour. England is so lovely and green! I also love how you don't try to pretend that everything on these tours is rosy, and yet also manage to somehow convey a sense of good humour even after a bad night's sleep. I've been there, but it's hard to stay grumpy when you're on a bike, right? As always, thanks for your amazing videos, and stay safe out there!

Thanks Peter 🙏 Ohh we absolutely have that... especially when transitioning back from a comfy winter break back into fulltime touring! Really looking forward to this series! We have done a few lengthy bike tours but they have all been within in the UK and Ireland so it's super interesting to hear your perspective experiencing it for the first time. Oh yes the Irish coast... looks rugged & desolate! Just what we'd enjoy... Next time for sure!
