Interesting to see what you take and focus on. Thank you for posting this and sharing with everyone. If reishi helps me stay asleep (not fall sleep, that happens in less than a minute lol) while being on an energy deficit during the off season (the sort of losing only a few kgs type of deal to save 20-30w on a steep climb), it would really make the season! I'm 30 and struggle with this horribly compared to ten years ago. Will look into the other mushroom supplements. Lowering cortisol is huge. I have settled with drinking beetroot juice (Lakewood Organics - ~1200mg/12 fl oz of nitrate content) and beta alanine (6g split into three after main meals). Curcumin, tongkat ali, and maca powder. 750mg of acetic acid before main meals (Braggs has a great one with vit D3). I feel supplementation can be quite useful after exhausting all options and you're left with chasing the last few percent of gains in your numbers. Along with the essential recovery basics, I'm left with supplementation, heat and altitude training, and strength training. At around 67-70kgs at race weight (75kgs right now... oof) and an FTP of just over 400 at 1650m altitude, it's been a hard, hard grind so far in this off season. Not a racer, just going for climbing KOMs and fitness with zero race tact/experience, but I love these tips/heads up you're giving for people who are looking into becoming masters athletes down the road.

I've taken all kind of supplements and I've stopped taking them all for more than a week and I feel exactly the same and see no difference. The only thing that has made me feel like a million dollars is one time I caught a bad flu and I only ate fruits, lean meats and eggs and was off the bike for 4 days. On the fifth day I went for a ride and felt very strong and light. My climbing efforts felt easier and faster than usual. I couldn't believe it. Once I began eating a regular diet, all that effect went away.

As a supplement user as well, sometimes I can look like a pharmacy and sometimes it may just be fish oil. I race elite level and I can promise any viewer - you can take none of them and still win / do well. Sometimes I do wonder if I’m clutching at straws. I can assure you ALOT of WT pro’s take next to nothing (I know unbelievable right) and still be at that level. Thanks for the video mate but don’t be scarred to leave a few out and save the dollars for some aero socks 😂😉

Supplements are one of my passions also. Some call it expensive urine but I like it. When I couldn't get Race Caps any longer, I bought all the ingredients listed on the label separately. So one half of my kitchen cabinet looks like a drug store. Ashwagandha Root Tincture, Extract, not the capsules, will set you free! Taurine 1000mg L-tyrosine Beta Alinine 3g Ashwagandha 450mg Nitric Oxide Boost 1600mg L-Citrulline 2000mg Quercetin w/zinc 500mg B-12

What do you do to test the interference effect of all of these?
@EVOQBIKEАй бұрын
i've only added one thing at a time over about a decade of training. Then usually stop taking it to see if I feel any different. Quite often the most important ones are quite noticeable (the mushrooms, lactigo, etc)

I can see that you mean well but unfortunately there's quite a bit of misleading information in this video.

@@lil__apan at that FTP no offence but 4 weeks of just quality training will lift that on bread and water

Why is it that we cyclists are absolutely obsessed with finding a supplent that is going to turbo-charge our performance? News flash - short of PEDs they don't exist. Save your money and train smarter/harder/longer. To me it's like the search for the ultimate slimming pill for fat, lazy people.
@EVOQBIKEАй бұрын
it's not looking for a turbo charge, it's looking for a small small % that makes me feel better. I train pretty harder and long, can't do that much more ;-)
