Hello Julianna and Roland, I have noticed you with the video of your journey along the Upper Danube. I have cycled there last month on my own and recognized the chapel on 8.31 and the arch on 10.56 and, off course, all the other things. A beautiful but also heavy trip. I think on 10.30 it was rather 20% than 15% 😅😊. I ride also a conventional bike, not an electric. So, sometimes it was hard work. I had also cloudy weather. So many memories came back. I have also visited Riedlingen (part 3 in your playlist). I have seen the Eisbackerei where I have eaten an icecream. Very nice to see it all again. Now, I am gonna follow your trip across America. I had no image of the state of Washington, but with your videos I can see how awesome it is there. Thank you very much for posting these episodes. You did a very good job! Best wishes from a 55-years old one from Belgium (the land where cycling is a religion, thanks to the Tour of Flanders, Eddy Merckx and a big number of other cyclists) 😊.

Hello Belgium! We loved the Danube, what a great route that is, through great countryside. Washington, part of the Pacific Northwest, is gorgeous, at least the western part. The eastern part is dramatically different as you will see if you follow the episodes. We will be riding from Amsterdam to Itally next Spring if all goes well, probably through Belgium. We'll give you a wave!

Just got back from cycling Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Second time biking the Danube river in two years. Such a beautiful and peaceful river to bike. We only rode 25-30 miles a day this time but it took us all day because there was so many things to see along the way. Great food with amazing people made for a great trip! My buddies and I will be back again ( God willing) in 2025.

Sounds like a great ride! We too find ourselves riding fewer miles per day, even in the US, because there’s always a reason to stop and experience things along the way. I loved the Danube!

Makes for very pleasant viewing. Doing some cycling in Europe is very much on our bucket list...at least, after some more walking of pilgrim trails anyway.

Go as soon as you can. Once you do it, you'll want to keep coming back. The Danube River is my favorite bike path in the world!

I like they way you showed it from the cyclist perspective as opposed to the heave use of drones. Eurovelo 6 has been on my list for a while, but the world is a big place. I managed to do a Northern European tour where I followed the North Sea Route for a while after landing in Denmark from a ferry from Iceland where I spent a month. From Norway back thru Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and Scotland, England and Wales. I feel sad that I couldn't squeeze Ireland onto that tour. One thing I loved about cycling Northern Europe was the food.

That sounds like an amazing trip. Ireland is amazing. But I've never biked it. Can't wait to head back to Europe. Would love to do the EV15.

@@TheBicycleTourists The river routes have a nice grade and it is really easy to find accommodation without much planning. I did the Moselle from Koblenz, Germany, thru to Luxembourg (I overnighted at a winery) and it seemed a bit crowded with people on electric bikes (I think many could have been off of those river barge cruises). I don't mind a bit of climbing and quite a few times I went totally off route on the North Sea Route and encounter some totally amazing vistas as even to this day I have hard time believe that I saw them (What about the pictures? Well that is another story which is on CGOAB). I am more of by the seat of my pants type cycle tourer with little planning and a credit card to see where it takes me and a guide books of sorts so that I don't miss anything important stuff. I try to communicate with the locals to learn about the really cool stuff which is usually them.

@@HermannKerr That's a great perspective. We're getting ready to cross the U.S. and really not sure about how to go about it, other than take it as it comes. You have to wild camp if you're gonna cross the American West. In Europe, we could always fly by the seat of our pants, looking into getting a room a couple of hours before we were ready to stop for the night. The ease and convenience were very appreciated. I'll look up your blog. The North Sea seems so cool.

@@TheBicycleTourists Ya tenting is going to be necessary. I crossed N.A. in 2015 and I think had to camp 5 times in 4 months. When your 72 that ground gets awfully hard. I am looking at getting a cushier sleeping pad for a tour this summer (a couple of weeks after my second shot) than my neo air. Which route are you taking across? I like the newly proposed route composed of different rail trails but that is still a way off. The prairies are easy as you can take one of the old highways which is really cool as you get meet some really interesting people. I always liked the idea of trying to take the 66 but avoiding Chicago (I had a young fellow cyclist from China stay with me via Warm Showers on his way across and he got struck by a car there). Warm Showers may be a good choice to help keeping you off of the cold hard ground and on some of the routes there are quite a few WS hosts. Have fun!
