I have enjoyed your videos. My wife and just got back from cycling the Rhine 10/1/19 - 10/18/19. I'm 65 and am recovering from open heart surgery on June 20th, and my wife is 58, so we did not make the distance each day that your guys did, but we did average 30 mi. (50 km) per day. We started in Basel, and had planned to make it to the Atlantic, but a few things got in the way. We had to put our bikes on a train from Koln to Xanten, because a trade fair in Duisberg had raised room rates for 100 mi. from 100 Euros to 450 Euros per night. And we also had had enough of the wind and rain by the time we got to Zanbommel. We ended up doing 425 of an estimated 555 miles, and we had a good time and a lot of laughs. We had rail passes and 40 more days of travel, so we took our bikes back to Amsterdam and headed to Hamburg. Again, have enjoyed your videos, especially that acknowledgement that from time to time you got lost. It was nice to learn that we weren't the only ones. We are planning to go back this fall and ride the Danube.

Oh wow congrats on the ride and your recovery! Its such a wonderful cycle. We hope to retrace it one day maybe in little sections. Such incredibly wonderful memories. We were planning to ride the Danube Eurovelo 6 from Passau to Budapest this Sept. But, that plan is on hold, obviously. We purchased two bikes from a shop in Amsterdam last Summer, and he agreed to hold them for us until we returned this Fall. We are now hoping that we could possibly make the Danube tour in the Spring. Hope our bikes will still be there. This is completely off the topic of bike touring, but if you find yourself with four minutes of idle time on your hands, do a KZbin search for, “Lyric video for American Immigrant by the Arizona Nightingales”. As a retired teacher, one of my life long hobbies has been songwriting. You might enjoy, take care. Tom & Vicki

@@MatHall We started in Cherbourg and are doing a loop back to Cherbourg. We've just been through the neat castle section, now we're deciding whether we should continue up the Rhine from Cologne to Rotterdam, or duck across on the EV4. Ive heard north of Cologne is really industrial, but would you still recommend it?

@@NomadLifeKiwi its stunning up until Bonn then after that its very industrial and flat. Cologne and especailly dusseldorf were nice cities but cycling wasnt as interesting. Definitely recommend ev15 to bonn then maybe head off from there if thats an option!

I found their site. The ones I saw were very expensive. Must be a good towel-maybe too good for a bike trip. I have a small microfiber towel from REI in the US. It works, but I don’t like using it-it doesn’t slide on your skin. Thinking of getting a couple cheap, thin cotton ones and rotate them.
