“Ow do” and “eh up” are universal greetings throughout the universe and understood by all races, unless your from London 😂 One of the many things Daz I think many people love about your vids is the commentary. An absolute love of the countryside and it’s surroundings and as commented already, the editing is so professional. Your certainly right about having to balance the love of cycling with family life etc.There has been many times I’ve had to do other things, like us all I suspect, and the weather has been fab and the first thing comes to mind “darn it, I could be out on the bike right now” It must be difficult to come up with new rides but I find they never get boring, no matter how many times I go. The walker Alfred Wainwright once described it as “visiting old friends”. I did notice Daz that nifty looking bike lock you used, never seen one like that, so compact. Could you tell us what it is as I’m sure it would come in handy. Now I’ve seen your vid, I’ll catch up on the Giro d’Italia previews. Strange how cycling seems to take over your life 😂 Thanks Daz, inspirational stuff as always. Steve

It is always a challenge to find the inspiration to make these cycling videos because there is always the risk of becoming repetitive but thanks to google maps and Street view , you can do all the research from the comforts of home. I like the idea of getting a good descent in where ever possible and then looking for the next thing on the road that might appeal to add to a making a prospective video. The group rides were great for general action and life in the peloton but solo rides offer a lot more B role shots and fly-by's

We love the area around Skipton, really friendly people even to us Lancashire folk. The Sunday bus to Ilkley goes through the archway at Bolton Abbey and is a real test for the bus drivers. Great video , love your old Lab, it gets hard when they get old and they can't do the things they used to do.

My mum often gets the X43 for a day out to Skipton Terry and we all used to go out there shopping as a family at one time. I've being cycling this way out since 1982 when Todmorden Wheelers introduced me to all of these places as a schoolboy.

Thanks for another great film Daz, it was a particularly stunning Easter weekend and that added something to this film. Getting the work/leisure/life balance is never easy. I know, I’ve been there. Pleased to say I have it more or less correct these days. Please keep making them whenever you can. But follow your heart, when deciding how to spend your time.

Thank you Sophie, it is very important to get the balance right and as much as I love the cycling, it's finding the time to do everything else. I'm a keen gardener and as I'm sure you will appreciate, this time of year everything starts to spring to life or needs to be cut back, let alone spend some time with old dog. I've got tins of paint and bits of this and that from B&Q in the shed for projects on the house , the list is endless. I often clean the car in the dark 🤔

Nice route, good running commentary, and the Barden - Embsay loop is a jewel in the crown. I think that descent after the cattle grid catches everyone, especially the first sweeping left-right combination with the water slick!

One of your best productions, was great to see some insight into your home life and how you still make the time to ride. We all struggle with that one but you make it happen, every credit! Have been catching up with a lot of your older vids, the two coast to coast rides were mightily impressive. Keep doing what you are doing, I even enjoyed your prospecting vids. It's all about being outdoors for me 😀

Hello OMC and thank you for comments. My average speed takes a battering with the stopping and starting and making the flyby shots but do you know what, I'm not bothered . some rides finish at 12mph or 13 but I'm enjoying telling the story. I totally agree with you about the Dales and the local hills. We are blessed to be able to ride in such a lovely area.

Another brilliant decent Darren to start with, no crossbar for me this time, I stupidly came a cropper this week in pursuit of an eight legged intruder, childhood phobia, lost my balance when it ran towards me and injured my already dodgy spine as I fell awkwardly, could have been worse I narrowly missed the tv on my way down 🫣 that was a great ride in beautiful country side, the Strid Wood tea room looked very inviting….but no Scones what! 😮 was rather concerned at the amount of run-off water on the last decent….as always you handled it brilliantly 👍👏👏👏

Well........Last night I got up to go to the loo and was confronted by the biggest spider you have seen. I almost screamed ! They must live under the bed in a small house . @@MrDazP1adv3ntures omg. I have a terrible phobia about spiders thanks to a brother in law who thought it would be fun to put a hairy fake one on my shoulder, fake or not it frightened me to death! I can’t bare the thought of them roaming around my bedroom, and living in a country estate there are plenty of them, they must be more terrified of me but I still can’t help it 🫣 I’m wondering how you got rid of yours, and they usually come in pairs I’ve found 😂 I suggest you get the hoover out and go under the bed!
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures Жыл бұрын
It was 2:00am Bernice so that counted the hoover out, but as it happens I'd only done just that the previous day, with the old servicing tool I'd even baby whipped the skirting boards - spring cleaning going on there. I used a cup with some paper to move it somewhere into the garden. I am now left worrying there could be another blighter lurking in the wardrobe waiting to drink my blood when I go to bed at night if they come in pairs.😲

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Guess what! I now have two smaller versions giving me the runaround, I can’t even catch them in a glass I would just drop it, I usually have to wait for my home help to retrieve them and she dislikes them also, my son fetched me over for tea on Sat. he said he had to remove a rather large one from the sink in the loo that morning I asked where did you put it, he said just about where you are standing on lawn 😂 It will come back mark my word! I’m very impressed with your household skills, you wouldn’t like a second job by any chance as I’m so useless at almost everything these days…..my Bavarian friend is now calling me Spider 🕷 Woman! What will she think when I say I’ve met Spider Man 🤔

There were big ideas down there to invest in a gold mine by the old timers over a hundred years ago. The Bailey Level is a former gold mine near to Wigpool & Drybrook and an iron mine in the Forest of Dean. Volunteer members of Lea Bailey Light Railway Society manage the mine and surface features. The mine was closed in 1908, as they could not extract economically, because of the small amount of gold present. According to the AddItNow mining forum downstream of The Bailey Level is an excellent area for panning.

Hi and thanks for the feedback and yes, I take on board your points about a Cheshire ride. I need to look at getting out that way at some stage. I often think about the difference between a flat ride and a rolling hilly ride. When on a flat ride, there is no hiding. You have to pedal all the way around so to speak, where as in the Dales you can get some respite on the long hilly descents and you also get a better idea of your bearings relative to where you want to be heading.

Hi Steve ,I hope you are well, and yes the good old "Hey up" Always makes an appearance on a bike ride. I like the reference to visiting old friends with regards to places. One of the reasons I stopped riding with the gang was because after a while they just kept going to the same cafes and to the same places. It's great at first when they are all new to you but then for me, the cycling looses it"s appeal. I have always enjoyed reasearcing new lanes and new cafe stops to keep things interesting. I tried to make this point on this video. The small loop makes what would be a typical ride out to Skipton, an even better ride. I am biased however, because I will always head out towards the Dales or the Trough. I am looking forward to the Giro too. Could it be another GB rider on the podium ?
