@johnshaw82282 жыл бұрын
@@HumanontheLoose You never know what you might learn from homeless guys. In the early 1970s I met a homeless woman in Tucson, Arizona. She eventually, not right away, told me about a man shooting targets in the desert practicing to assassinate President Nixon. About two months later that same man was arrested attempting to kill President Nixon in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was all over the news. I bicycled across the USA going through Tucson maybe four times. Other routes avoided Tucson. Yes, I began a long-distance bicycle-camping voyage of discovery and adventure. I had to turn back. I have to face medical issues. This is the fourth time I turned back. There are reasons for that. Extreme stress and injury, time, toxins, PTSD from military service, have had their cumulatives. They make much worse the normal declining of age.

The f-bomb is often misused by being over used. In being overused, it loses its power and elan-it’s heard but not regarded. The judicious use of the f-bomb is an art but an art that must conceal itself in order to maximize its impact. I think that in this video you employ it well, especially on the unexpected climb into Plumber-the f-bomb here fits the circumstance and like the sudden lift in geography comes unexpected into the viewers’ ears. The sound and sentiment fit the sense. I like that. That’s the way an f-bomb should be used in a nice video like this.

General saddle hight rule... If the front of your knee hurts, raise your saddle. If the back of your knee hurts, lower your saddle. Raise or lower saddle by half centimeters until the pain goes away. Every centimeter you move the saddle up move the seat forward a half a centimeter. Every centimeter you lower the saddle move the saddle backwards a half a centimeter. This is all starting from a baseline that you did get from your road bike. If starting out from scratch you will need assistance from a bike fitter.

Hey Girl sorry to hear about the back issue. Nothing worse than a stiff back in the morning from riding the day before when you have a long day of riding ahead of you. It sounds like when you are riding on dirt and gravel you're more forward on your bike saddle to absorb any bumps, it's a natural thing to do we all do it. When you move to smooth pavement we tend to sit up more and further back on our seat a less aggressive posture. This puts more pressure on your sit stay bones and restricts the natural angle of your hips for a comfortable long day in the saddle. Try sliding your seat closer to your handle bars by about 3/8 of an inch or the width of your forefinger. This should help you out for the longer days riding. Love the sense of humour you bring on every video ... makes my day !
@HumanontheLoose2 жыл бұрын
Ahhhh...interesting. I know that happens on a MTB vs a road bike but never thought of that for the same bike. But yes - it makes sense. Dirt one is more trail focused and holding tighter going over rocks..etc. Then more relaxed on pavement looking up more. Thank you. I love information like that! I'm always happy to hear I made someone laugh! I have an odd sense of humor so one never knows if I'm the only one laughing. 😂

I was fitted by pro expert Tim at Mountain Velo in Park City for my road bike so I am very familiar of the fine adjustments which make a true impact on one’s riding experience. When I was in Boise a bike shop had said I can use the same fittings from that experience for my bikepacking bike - Salsa Cutthroat - and so I went with that advice. Once I started riding it was confirmed it was horrible advice- as you would agree. Lesson learned! Thanks for sharing!

Actually the morning rant covered some important issues. I know you love being free form, but it is not a bad style. I have found my self puzzling later in day on some similar observations after watching your stories. My back can't take the posture for drop or aero bars. and my tail loves a Selle Anatomica seat for all day riding. YT seems to have a flood of newly minted bike experts from bike packing to repairs and the poor boys can barley tell you how to pull a hand out of a bag of chips. Only here can I watch some one nerding out over a TP dispenser. Idaho is different. As a backpacker, I have been dissed in Salmon, the automatic assumption that I maybe a wolf lover. In Montana. I just bought a permit that allows me to camp on State Trust Land for trips across Eastern Montana where there is less federal land than your parts of the NW. The accommodation rule is fantastic and I did not know that.

I wouldn't see the issue with camping at all designated picnic area that has a restroom and literally No View. I have watch several other channels of bikepackers/touring, that would do "Stealth" camping. One cyclist would go off into a tree line or clump of trees off any trail or road when no one was there to see, never built a fire, and used a tent that was almost a forest green in color to blend in. He made sure to be up, packed and rolling by sun up, so no one was the wiser that he was even around. He even camped on several occasions on some farm land in a group of trees located out in a plowed field, some within a mile of the owner's home. He was pretty adept at setting up his tent after sunset, so as not to be seen
