@@ANONYMOUS-km1sz on a C1 I think you can probably get at it with the car on the ground, BUT why not try this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5nai4qYeZp7qJY

Great thanks. Wife's exhaust bracket broke months ago. And has been held with wire ever since. Replaced today with the clamp method and its done the job. Did use a 50mm clamp. But everytime you started the car the exhaust would rattle on the belly of the car. So swapped for a 64mm and it's perfect. Thank you.

Hi Syd, had a clamp on my c1 for the last 3 years!!!. Happy day's. Had 2 c1 cars for the last 10 years. Cheap to run, etc. Only water leaking in back light cluster, but after watching your video 2 years back sorted that. Great video as always Syd. Keep up the good work. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk. 👍

Hi Mike, thanks for sharing. I felt confident the clamp solution should be robust and last well, but good to know it's already been done and proven to last. Isn't it great to be getting some nice weather at last eh? Enjoy and stay safe. ☀☀

I was driving a 1993 VW Polo and I heard scraping, stopped and this had happened. I was in the countryside and used some spare barbed wire from a fence to fix it and it lasted permanently! ❤️👍😎

I've had to order a new exhaust this week. The centre section started blowing. The original factory exhaust has lasted us 11 years and 93,000 miles! I'm okay with that.

I had to do a temporary repair today on a 2013 107. Bought a reel of 2.5mm steel garden wire from Screwfix for £6, & wound it round the tail pipe a few times… let’s see how long it lasts! Next, I’ll try the 64mm exhaust clamp method. 👍

The hanger of my exhaust muffler was about to disappear. My C1 was in the garage for the german MOT (Hauptuntersuchung/TüV) anyway. Mechanic Mike bended a screw and welded it on the tube. And yes, he was very proud of the hidden sculpture he created. We passed the MOT (for two years) without any further problems and everything is fine. 🚗😃🚗

This happened to mine a few months back. Citroen dealership wanted about £330 for a full catback because it had "rusted out" - local garage said the exhaust itself was fine, wasn't rusted at all, and welded it back on for me for about £40.

When my exhaust dropped all I had to hand was a thick cable tye which was on the car for a week while I waited for the clamp I ordered after watching your video I decided the clamp to be the cheaper option than a new exhaust will be interesting to see how long it lasts

Uploaded 1hr ago haha. Just borrowed the mother in laws one of these while mine gets some work.. had a blow out on day one, now just got back this morning and this has happened 🥴 handy to see before jacking up and that. Using that wire to represent the bracket was just the ticked ill do that as a template, bend a new hanger and weld it back on 🤫 Also I take it that rubber is meant to be under the spring on the right there lol
@CycloneCyd3 жыл бұрын
Back in my rallying days, I found out the hard way that welding on an old exhaust can be a hiding to nothing. The welding process can blow holes through corroded steel. So go carefully. We switched to mechanical fixes during events for speed and surity of keeping going.

And, yeah it is. No idea how it got like that, I doubt the wife's been taking air on yumps 😂

@CycloneCyd3 жыл бұрын
So far, so good. The exhaust clamp method is showing no signs of giving up 5 months in. I'd like to hope it'll last years, but we'll probably need a new backbox before it gives up. Our C1 is still on it's original exhaust, 10yrs 86,000 miles.
@katylake7806 Жыл бұрын
Will it pass an MOT like this? Mine has done this and we’ve fixed it with wire for now. However I’m worried about the other side of the box as it is also quite corroded. What would you recommend for the other side?

YES, ours did 3x MoTs like this. We've since replaced the entire exhaust.

Easy peasy. Pick up a replacement from any factors and use a bit of WD or soap to ease it on.

Do you have any tips on how to get better gas mileage out of my 1.0 petrol c1? The car runs fine, i just get 7,5-8l/100km(30mpg) in a busy city, everywhere online it says i should get 6l/100km (40mpg) or even better.... the car runs perfectly.. i'm thinkin to change the spark plugs maybe? i went for an MOT and the technician said my lambda sensor is on its way out, could that be the issue? any thoughts?
@CycloneCyd3 жыл бұрын
Lots of stop start is always tough on economy. Clean your throttle body, MAP sensor and PCV valve (videos on those two coming up soon). Change sparks every 10k miles. Get your injector out and give them a clean (I did a recent video on injector cleaning). Check your tyre pressures propely (I've done a video on that too) but put 3-5psi extra in. Service all the brakes and make sure non are dragging (pay attention to this kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2UpJhnndVqkMk). Whip the sensor out and give it a clean, they do soot up. Otherwise they either work or don't work. Use the best fuel you can get locally too. Try not to carry any excess weight
@domspider13 жыл бұрын
My opinion is put the factory recomended spares - oil 0W20 syntetic and iridiun sparks plugs. It will reduce the drag for the extra viscosity of the oil and the sparks will give a better spatk. That will give you better gas mileage

Why not just replace the original clamp that has rusted off with a new identical clamp for £14?
@canadiansaabfreak65303 жыл бұрын

@CycloneCyd3 жыл бұрын
I know, init just❗ A proper pea shooter. Still, it is a small engine. Believe it or not, but that exhaust is 11 years old, 86,000 miles and is the factory original. My Saab is 13 years old and still on it's factory original at 154,000 miles (except the back box which was damaged in the rear end shunt). The centre box is just starting to go at it's seams (not blowing yet though) so I might replace it with new str8 thro' SS box. It's a decent size too - 2 3/8 inches OD.
