Wherever they came from, whatever music genre they are doing as long as they are asian they are directly Kpop for many people. I've seen some KZbin reactors labelling Band Maid and Lovebites as Kpop Rock just because they are asian. But in the end Kpop is just pop music in korean language. Even if a korean group sings in another language it is not Kpop because Kpop = pop in korean. So even if XG promotes in Korea and participating in Korean music shows, they are definitely not Kpop no matter what explanation anyone can come with.
