UPDATE: In an effort to keep the video a reasonable length, there is a lot that wasn't mentioned in the video. Here are just a few of the things we didn't have time to mention:
- Main engines have only 260 hours as of August 2024
- Starlink Maritime is installed with dual dishes
- Seakeeper 16 is still under warranty. GB standard is Seakeeper 9. We used it at the dock on crowded weekends, under way and at anchor.
- Underwater lights
- Salon chairs are recliners and perfect for watching tv
- Automated blackout shades of helm windows
- Electrical system is US standard but pre-configured to be ready for world cruising. A sister boat cruised Thailand last year, is cruising Turkey and Greece now
- Shorepower inlets in cockpit and at bow
- Extensive Maretron monitoring
- Chain was upgraded to 125 meters (410') of Cromox CDK electropolished at cost of over $11,000
- Hvac system has dual 36kBTU chillers with VFDs (soft start) Air handlers throughout boat and in lazarette with color controls. System is all Technicold by Northern Lights
- Tides dripless shaft seals
- Anchor is 60kg Ultra with swivel
- Fuel polishing system
- Salt water washdown at bow
- And more!

The adventure will continue! Both roberta and I work and live on the boat for 3 to 6 months at a time. We decided we wanted more space. Cygnus is not small, but we are thinking of getting something in the 89-90´ range, that has has 4,000+ nm range

@@gasar719 Yes - If we get another Nordhavn, it would be our third! That's fairly typical for Nordhavn owners. It is very common for Nordhavn owners to move up, or down, the ladder of Nordhavn ownership as their lives, or finances, change over time.

Hi Ken, How about this builder: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXSZm4WXhN55g68si=F3Y7fsawC_yXuNSC Is MV Starr still around? Who made that boat? Anyways, whatever boat you get, we all hope you do your wonderful blogs and videos, and bring us along !! GSSR 2.0 on new boat?? Thanks 😊

@@xj1716 We actually went aboard the Allseas 92 and spent time with the builder. I thought it was a great boat, and extremely well equipped. Roberta didn't like the color schemes, layout and decoration as much as I did. I am concerned about it being a completely custom non-brand-name boat. At this point our focus is on getting Cygnus sold. Once that happens we can look around to see what is out there.

The Nordhavn 80 is a well designed yacht. . They put a lot of the mechanical equipment forward of the vip suite. Their first model is up for sale. It's more boat than I could handle but perfect size. Good luck with the finding your NEXT boat.

We have certainly thought about a Nordhavn 80, as well as other Nordhavns, CDMs, Moonens, Doggersbanks, etc. All of it is just "dreaming" at this point. We're waiting to see if Cygnus sells. If not, we may let the listing lapse and be happy with Cygnus for a few more years. It has everything we ever wanted for cruising. It's just not quite big enough for Roberta and I to each have our own office. My guess is that if we do get a larger boat, it will take about an hour for us to start grumbling and wish we had Cygnus back. With a larger boat we'll need to think about crew, and we don't want the expense or the loss of privacy.

No one is more surprised to see us selling than us. The boat not only seems new, it basically is. We spent 3-4 months on it during each of the last couple of years, but the engines only have 260 hours. We had big plans, but were tied down by a return to full-time work and a house we were building, plus a condo we were moving out of. Our lives have settled down and we want our old lives as world cruisers back. Cygnus is ocean rated, but its range is only a couple thousand miles. Our plan was to ship the boat around the world. It is all set for the Med, the Caribbean, the Great Loop, etc. That still may be our future. We figured we'd give it a season to try selling while Cygnus is still new, and if nothing happens we'll stick with Cygnus and reconsider again some future year. That all said, we really don't much more than that we will be cruising. Where, or on what boat, is yet to be determined.

There are lots of videos on the internet dedicated to the GB 60. If you are serious about the GB 60, I’d encourage you to watch all of them. It’s an expensive boat and justifies the time invested. I am confident that Cygnus is the best equipped Gb 60 on the market, or ever built. Anyone serious about the GB 60 will quickly figure that out.

This was the first of these I have ever done, and the plan was for someone else to do the recording, but I had to step in at the last minute. I do not want to be defensive. As I look at the video I see lots of things I would do differently. My guess is that if I did a hundred of these, each would be better. There is something to be said for experience. Anyway .. Just to nitpick for a second... There is very little of this video in which the salesman is in the frame. He (Scott) shot most of the video personally with the camera in his hand. In terms of minutes of salesman vs boat, the vast majority is "boat". I have watched a huge number of boat walkthroughs. My favorite walkthrough videos are by Victoria and Rico Chalaya. Check out their channel and you'll see they do a great job. I haven't compared the number of minutes her or him are on camera but I suspect it is higher than in this video. The difference is that they have done this many times and are better at it than I am. Bottom line: I am terrible at filming boat walkthroughs. You have my word that I'd be better if I did lots of these. Feel free to be critical of me. I guarantee I am more critical of me than you can ever be. I am happy to be criticized as a boat walkthrough film maker. It's not what I do best. That said, if you would like to discuss seamanship, or ability to configure and select a reliable, and seaworthy boat, I am happy to debate my abilities with you. I have cruised over 40,000 nautical miles in a wide variety of conditions. All of the equipment on this boat was personally and carefully selected. If you are in the market to hire a videographer, please feel free to choose someone else. However, if you are looking for a great boat that will take you places safely, I hope you will forgive my lack of experience and focus on the boat not the video. I think if you watch this video and focus on the boat, not my film making, you'll be blown away. Grand Banks builds amazing boats. Best wishes and thank you for the feedback.
