Just a tip, In the title write the content of the video, for instance Gs 550 Head removal, that way if someone is looking for how to do a certain job, they're more likely to find your videos,

Hi mate, thoroughly enjoying these repair videos on GS. Where can I find the online workshop pdf that you are using for specs and drawings? I’m currently rebuilding a GS650. Cheers

Thanks for watching! I use suzukipartshouse.com for parts breakouts and gsarchive.bwringer.com/ for manuals.

FargoMonk your tutorials are priceless! You have a knack for teaching and I like your dry wit. Happy Fathers Day! Quick question, I watched Part 4 and this video as well, can I perform this entire procedure with the engine mounted on the bike or must I dismount it? thanks again for so graciously dispensing your masterful knowledge :)
@UrbanMonkTV7 жыл бұрын
motafov Thanks! I commend you for having the patience to sit through my detail. 😄 Yes, I'm quite sure you can do a top end rebuild without removing the engine from the frame. All the best.

are you kidding, i watched all your videos back to back and have made a list of things to ask my mechanic to watch out for based on your tips (plus i like your make shift tools and macGyver attitude). hate to hog this comments section up with a personal question, but because i intend to have a professional handle the valve adjustment tomorrow (even though having watched your vids i'm certain i could attempt it..just dont have the tools nor the time presently) i was wondering whether messed up valves could be responsible for my 1978 gs550 not starting when hot. it could be rectifier or coils or points, or all of the above? bike was sitting for 20 years, carbs have been recently cleaned up, its probably a good idea to check valves regardless what the cause of hot-starting problems might be, right? thx again 4 posting the vids u made !!

motafov Sounds like a puzzle. I always think of the big three- fuel, spark, compression. If your running cold then you have all 3 cold. Do you have all 3 when hot? Which party goer ducks out when things get 🔥?

Hi! I love your videos, they are much appreciated! Did you find new camshafts on ebay? Where would you recommend that i look for a new camshaft...i could only find used ones on ebay and i cannot be certain that those are within the acceptable limits until they arrive. What did you end up doing?
@UrbanMonkTV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, I purchased my replacement camshafts on eBay - used. I asked three different sellers to tell me the measurements. Only one was willing to do it (at the time) but the camshafts he sent were within spec. Other option is more expensive - take to a machine shop to graft new steel onto them and grind to OEM specs.

Also I know gs1000 can romance 100psi across the cylinders. I'm thinking valves are stumbling. It wont idle but got her started dancing RPM over 2500!🤔🤣
