Thanks Taylor! First time messing with my new LP-16 today. Must admit it was a hard time trying to understand it. Did’nt get it right today, but I have watched your video (again), so I will try again tomorrow. My problem is that I don’t get signals/sounds in the mixer in uTools. Think it went wrong when I exported the tracks from my DAW (studio one). Please, post more videos!!!🤘🏻

I'll try to get back to making a video on the LP16, especially now that I have more experience with it. It is kind of hard to use. To be honest, I never use the mixer since I have the outputs running to Amplifiers and our PA.

This thing is awesome, thanks for making these videos it's really helping me figure out a solution for my band. My first plan was to use Reaper and a laptop for backing tracks and MIDI switching but I really really really don't wanna have to rely on a laptop in a live environment, so this looks perfect. I'm just trying to figure out the mixer element to it now,. The Behringer XR stuff so far looks promising. I could have the Cymatic run midi, click tracks, and backing tracks into that, and I believe change scene's and snippets inside the XR mixer using the midi data, and also change presets and snapshots on two Helix units using the MIDI too.
@TaylorDanley

🙌🤘. Yeah, we were in the same exact situation with our band. It's like a) hire more people b) laptop and back tracks or c) try this lp16 thing. I'm always amazed more bands that use backing tracks dont use it. The horror stories I've heard of bands laptops crashing on stage...

Thanks for the tutorial. Only thing I would add, is to put a couple minutes of empty space at the end of all of your tracks, to avoid situations where the track loops and starts over, or the next track starts automatically. I don't have my LP16 yet, so no idea if the device even does this, but it's good practice in order to avoid having to run and quickly stop playback because a track is playing when it's not supposed to be.

I have no idea. Why wouldn't you trust a usb thumb drive though? It's basically a mini SSD. I've never had issues with mine, just make sure you get a decent one, and make a duplicate as back up. I learned today that the LP-16 doesn’t read stereo files. Make your master stereo out a mono file and bounce the stereo out and stereo 2 channels separately using the BNC button near the bottom of the channel strip.

Is this unit capable of changing patches say on 3 different units? 2 Axe fx and darkglass? Would you have to make 3 separate midi channels? Thanks man!
@TaylorDanley
@TaylorDanley 5 жыл бұрын
I believe so, although I've never done it. I would think that you'd have to a. Use different midi channels for each, and set up each unit to receive from said channel, and b. Have a "through" output in each unit (aside from the last in the chain).

one more question - is it only for mono tracks or can you run stereo tracks as well?
@TaylorDanley

Yes, it has an adjustable gap between playbacks. You can do stereo outputs, but it will treat it as 2 mobo outputs. So the stereo track is loaded in, and the cymatic will split the L and R channels.

Hello Taylor. First of all, thank you so much for this detailed tutorial, some pretty good work. But I still have one doubt. What happens if I want to control more than one device via midi. Does the LP16 have the capacity to store more than one midi track? And if so how should I wire then? Do I need to use a midi interface for that? Oh man, I would be so grateful if you see this comment and take some of your valuable time to reply. Thank you for your vids and keep on rocking man!
@TaylorDanley
@TaylorDanley 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks dude! I haven't done this before BUT in theory, if you wanted to control more than one device, you just have to assign them and use a multichannel midi file. For example, channel 1 - axefx, channel 2 - light rig, etc. And you would need to make sure that whatever device you connect to has a midi through port. I plan on doing this in the future.

@TaylorDanley
@TaylorDanley 4 жыл бұрын
It has a foot switch plugin for play/stop, which you can change to play/pause. Essentially you would set up your play list and it will go through the songs as they are played, waiting for your command to start each song via footswitch (you can also set it to automatically start). The way use it, is I broke our set into 2 acts, and just mapped out the songs in each act how we want to play them live, with pauses and samples, etc. Then the drummer has the footswitch to be able to start each act when hes ready.
