Thanks for another terrific review/tutorial. I've been a gigging musician for almost 45 years and am constantly amazed by the technological advances that have become available to performing musicians during that time. Scott, I'd be interested in learning - perhaps other viewers would as well - where you see technology taking the performing musician in the *next* 45 years.

Hi Scott! So much great information! I just bought you a few coffees! Thanks so much! I am starting a new project where I will need backing tracks (for first time) and have been thinking of buying a new laptop and an audio interface, and now I see this. The one thing I don't like about this device is the MIDI connector (which will be very important for me). I am not so confident with that connector, versus a traditional 5-pin one. Maybe it is as good - I don't know :-(
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын
I saw the coffees, thank you! That was really cool of you 🤘 Glad you enjoy the channel. I do wish the output wasn’t 3.5mm midi, but using those adapters that I have you can get it from 3.5mm to 5pin midi and it does work well, so it’s worth looking into 👍 I wish it was just 5pin, but it does still work
@stephanpelletier1727 Жыл бұрын
OK - thank you Scott! :-) Very interesting device! I particularly like the ability to send 6 audio channels (drums, bass, etc.) to my mixer where I can control the in-ear mix to the likings of the different musicians. This seems to be something I could "not" do with a laptop which would stream all tracks at once to an audio interface via the USB port.
@stephanpelletier1727 Жыл бұрын
OK, I correct myself after watching one other of your videos showing single file playback approach (with right and left channels) and the multitrack approach using USB and audio interface with many outputs, using a PC or iPad.
@stephanpelletier1727 Жыл бұрын
Scott, may I ask if you know if this would work with Android, considering I want to output MIDI tracks as well? I seem to find that the USB port of an Android can only be set for audio or MIDI, but not both at the same time. (I ask because my wife just purchased a nice Android tablet for her dad, but he doesn't want it. I'm trying to figure out if it could be helpful to me, to drive mp3's "and" MIDI out. Else, we will just return the tablet. Then, I would have to choose between a new PC and audio interface, versus the B.Beat.) Thank you!

Great video. What is the name of that little monitor you are using? I would like something similar to setup lyrics and charts that syncs to the B Beat.

It’s the device I use to see my screen when I film videos. I have a link in the description under “video gear” but I do think it might be too small for lyric application

@@ScottUhlMusic thanks for this great video. I'm italian and I know the company that builds this and I think they should be more than thrilled about your review. Great work! I'm currently an Ableton user as well but I'm thinking this piece of kit just might replace my laptop in the near future. How are you liking it?
@alonzojt Жыл бұрын
@@BrotherGoodeI love it. While rehearsing and setting up things I still use Ableton to set volumes, do cuts and the whole process of prepping sets. Once I’m ready I transfer this on this great machine and bring it with me on stage. Having just one piece of gear for that it’s so much better than carrying a Max or a Pc with a sound card. Less cables, less worries, really quick to set a playlist and even run it with videos synced. Great piece of kit.

Thanks you so much Scott, a other amazing tutorial ! i just ordered. The part where you use your iPad, does your application on your iPad control the B-Beat or does it control the outputs on your Berhinger Xair? My question is , can you control the gain for each output directly on the b-beat ? Thanks !
@ScottUhlMusic6 ай бұрын
Nice! Enjoy! And it’s just the settings for the behringer mixer, not the b beat. But you can control the b beat outputs from the device itself

Hi Scott, I’ve just bought one of these and I’m really happy with it. Question: can you explain how you made the MIDI track to control the HX? I’m trying to do the same on my Helix to change patches at the start of every song and a few at certain points and I’m getting nowhere. I’ve watched your other MIDI videos as well. Any help is appreciated 🙂👍
@ScottUhlMusic17 күн бұрын
Nice! Glad you are enjoying it. This video should explain it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXKnh36Cisiqoc0si=VIKz1XlWirX69gv6 Once you make the midi file in logic or another daw, export the midi file and save it to the b beat and it should work great. If it doesn’t, remember to check the midi TRS cable type

Hey Scott. Love the videos. Just picked up a B. Beat for my band here in Canada. Sent from Germany. If came with a European power adapter….did yours also? I guess that makes sense I have lots of USB-C cables and power adapters. I just want to make sure I don’t screw anything up with the power. Did you have to make that change also? If so…what “wall wart” did you use? Thanks. Keep up the great work and videos.

I believe mine came with the European cable as well and I just needed the adapter for it. That happens sometimes! Enjoy your B Beat 🤘🤘

Hey Scott, brilliant video as always. Do you know if the midi has to be manually inputted or does it have a learning mode like Stage Traxx?
@ScottUhlMusic Жыл бұрын

Hi Scott, firstly thanks for the great content. This channel is a real goldmine for finding some amazingly handy gadgets including this one which I bought almost solely based on your demo. A question I have about this device that I hope might be an easy answer for you is about the MIDI functionality. I want the B-Beat to control my lights on MIDI channel 16 using the DOREMIDI MTD1024 but also a number of other devices on different MIDI channels. I have programmed a single DMX light fixture with a single track of MIDI in Studio One 5, which is running fine on MIDI channel 16 through a NEKTAR MIDIFLEX 4 USB MIDI interface into my DOREMIDI MTD 1024. The trouble is that when I export that same MIDI file and upload it with its corresponding audio track the B-Beat plays the MIDI file back on MIDI channel 1 and at a much slower tempo (the audio plays back fine). There don't seem to be any MIDI track output channel settings on the B-Beat and I suspect that I might need to look into editing the MIDI file at a coding level to have any hope of using a multi channel MIDI file with the B-Beat so the MIDI lighting and MIDI guitar processor messages can end up on their own discrete channels. Have you encountered an/or solved this issue in your time using the B-Beat?
@ScottUhlMusicКүн бұрын
I can export a MIDI file for multiple midi channels and it works great on the B Beat. I do this in Logic. I had a consultation call with a guy who had a similar issue as yours and it was a problem with his DAW. Logic Pro is for sure able to export midi in multiple channels, so that’s my best guess as to what’s happening with yours
@liamcoombes2697Күн бұрын
@@ScottUhlMusic The DAW export is where the problem looks to be from my testing too. I will dive into the Presonus message boards and see if the DAW is even capable of that kind of export. Thanks for the reply Scott! All the best!

Love the MBeat, actually im on a big Live Band and yesterday just before the Show we had a problem with the power supply. It was turning on but not leaving the Inicial Logo, So no Play, Stop, Playlist, nothing. But still light up and have power. Sundely i tried to put my Powerbank of my phone ant guess what, it works, so for now, 5 months after, the power supply dead on me, not enough power on the Ac adapter i guess. Just ordered another on amazon. Ugreen. But anyway is a good product, to bad the power suply is not stronger. Now i ordered another Mbeat for backup Spare, we never know and also the power supply extra..Cheers and nice video. ;)

What’s the best way to create the midi files? I looked around but am having a hard time finding any videos about creating midi files to control this thing
@ScottUhlMusic13 күн бұрын
I make it in Logic Pro X and then export it as a midi file, which I import into the B Beat 👍
@nematode-band12 күн бұрын
@ thanks so much for responding! does this involve configuring the midi environment in logic? Basically, my goal is to control the x32 rack mixer using midi files from the bbeat. Configuring the midi environment properly seems a bit daunting and I’m worried it’s over my head. There’s a few videos on KZbin that discuss it but I’m getting confused with all the different steps and terminology. Am I missing something?

I just use the iPad to demo it for the video. I sent the audio OUT of the inputs into my mixer and I was controlling my mixer. You can control the outputs however you would like (or however the sound guy would like)
