Bendigedig! Diolch am y sylw! Great to see the Welsh Prem featured - though, as you note, all the clubs are in small towns (populations of about 20,000, though Barry has a population of about 50,000 people, hence their posh athletics ground!) so all the grounds are small. It may not seem it, but the grounds have improved a lot in the last few years and many if not all, have astroturf as they get income from hiring out the pitches to local 5-a-side leagues and develop their own football academies. The Welsh cities - Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham play in England.

Thanks for doing the Cymru Premier, great to see Wales included. Would love to see one too of the Welsh Premiership Rugby grounds, there's some great old, famous proper rugby grounds in there. And for next season 2 of the oldest and most famous teams will be back in it, as Pontypool and Neath got promoted this season.

Hopefully we're not too far away from a video on next season's NIFL Premiership grounds, though the promotion/relegation playoff has been delayed to Tuesday 30th May for the first leg, and Thursday 1st June for the second. Weirdly, the team that might be promoted, Annagh United, have designated Coleraine Showgrounds (over 60 miles away) to be their home ground, because their own isn't up to Premiership standard. This is despite having three Premiership-quality stadiums based within 15 miles of their location - including Dungannon Swifts, the team they're playing in the playoff.

@robertfoulkes1832 Жыл бұрын
@@TheMrPeteChannel What is up with Welsh names? Nothing. Llanfair PG is a total exception, named as a gimmick to attract tourists. Spoiler alert - it worked! Most places in Wales have names similar in length to England's and can be as short as "Rhyl"! They're also easy to pronounce correctly (once you learn the letter sounds) as Welsh is completely phonetic, unlike English. The usual complaint is that Welsh words have 'not enough vowels', which is a complete misunderstanding due to English traditionally defining its vowels as just a e i o u (y is actually a vowel in English too but don't tell the makers of C4 Countdown, it'll blow their minds!) Y and W are both widely used in Welsh to represent vowel sounds. Depending on the context, y can be pronounced either as a short "u" like the vowel in "bus", or as "i" like in "pig". The Welsh w is used for a slightly longer, soft "o" sound like the "oo" in "pool" or "soot". Then there's "ll", "dd", "ng", "ch" and "ngh" to master....

@RW-nr6bh Жыл бұрын
When it was formed the EFL as it is now known was not intended just to be an English League, it was meant to cover all of Britain and Ireland. The SFA objected, but the FAW didn't (at the time). I firmly support the right of any club in Britain to play in whichever League is willing to take them, so if a Welsh club wants to join the pyramid and gets accepted, good luck to them. I saw Colwyn Bay when they still played in English football. I remember Gretna playing in English football, too.

Some guy bought out a club called Llansantffraid (who had previously played in European competition), changed their name to Total Network Solutions and moved them just over the border into Oswestry (which is practically half Welsh anyway).
