I'm a Japanese woman born in 1969. I'm single. When I was feeling frustrated at work, this melody popped into my head. It was the first time I'd heard it in a long time and it lifted my spirits! I realized that the memory of seeing and listening to this song on "MTV," which was widely broadcast in Japan, when I was 16 years old in 1985, is deeply engraved in my heart.

How many parents didn't have a clue on what she was singing about?? I've said this plenty of times, but I wish I had a time machine, so I can go back to the 80s and stay there. I'd have a lot more time with having my mom in my life, I'd study harder ( I was .0036 points from being on the National Honor Roll ), I wouldn't have gotten pregnant at 19, I'd stay in the Army and made a career out of it, found my husband and started to date him, and relive the music. No matter how sad you might feel, put on the 80s, and the sadness just goes away.

I was born in 1974 and by the time I was old enough to appreciate music my favorite artists was you, Sade and George Benson. I have so many great memories involving your music. I remember hearing you for the first time at my very first slumber party. The song was ""Girls Just Want to Have Fun". I appreciate your music so much and I love you so much as an artist. I was a hospice nurse for several years and now I am an administrator of a hospice. I thank you for your part in making my children hood a happy one. I still love you. The main point: different register: Cyndi is a soprano ligera (very high-pitched voice) and Madonna is a soprano. I'm a mezzo who got those albums in the 80's... Both. When I sing I choose: Time after Time and Live to tell and I say: Thank you for low-pitched tones! I could attend Cyndi's performances twice in 1994. I could never attend Madonna's as she sang at a football field in my country. P.S. I wrote a letter to Cyndi in 1994... The sweetest singer in the world. I guess she remembers that. Do you know what I wished for? A little kitty... and the following morning there was a little kitty hanging on my stocking. :-)

You know, to this day she hasn't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I just found this out. Was shocked. I contacted them and they said that it's possible they will in the future, but if we want we can send a letter to the nominating committee nominating her. I did that and am trying to spread the word. So you basically write a nice letter stating why you think she deserves to be inducted. You send it to: The Nominating Committee Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 1290 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10104. Pass this on.

+Caleb B It certainly helped Debbie Gibson's popularity that she sang originals, while Tiffany mostly sang covers. But I still grew up with all four of those singers, so watching that punchy scene in "Mega Python vs Gatoroid" where Debbie and Tiffany strip down and have a wrestling rough-and-tumble catfight was pure gold for me. :-D Madonna's still around too; we last saw her embarrassing herself with that vulgar speech to protest Donald Trump's election last year. What has Cyndi been up to lately?

Check out the 1983 music videos playlist on my channel. More than 650 videos. I'm British so there's a bit of a UK bias in terms of the video selection.

Cyndi Lauper was my best favorite artist as soon as I heard her in the 80s. She's amazing.
