This album is so underrated. A prog gem for me. You know you have a gem when it has only 13k views after 8 years and its that good.

What a monument of a song. Paul's guitar work is great as usual, but listening to the bass and drums working together is exceptional. I could listen to that last couple minutes on a loop for hours. 2 amazing talents, RIP Sean Malone and Sean Reinert.

The best thing about this song is that Paul, Sean and Sean musicianship is on a whole other level. The last two minutes interplay sounds improvised to me and at the same time it is like the three of them had the ability to be in each one's head when they played.

One of Paul's best solos.

Kindly bent to free us, A heart-to-heart farewell, My armor begins to rust, It forms the scrapyard gates to hell. DNA, Trapped in ice. Absorbed into a fossil site. My cheek cells traced to an ancient human figure. Hobbit-sized. Kindly bent to free us, The joy, the sorrow, and the pain. Life returns to mother dust, Abroad we sail to sink one day. Beyond mere blood lineage or self-transcending simian. I arise to taste the dawn and find that love will shine on. Evolution. Beyond rationality. The one solution to turn my head and imitate. The sun. The one who's always been, Has seen much worse than this projection. Persecution. Kindly bent to free. Kindly bent to free us. Kindly bent. Kindly bent to free us. Kindly bent. Kindly bent to free us.

I love the song...does anyone know what the song is about (...if forms the scrapyard gates to hell...)?

I don't know the exact ins and outs, but the bit you refer to "my armour begins to rust, it forms the scrapyard gates to hell" is definitely in reference to the shedding of the ego self

Seriously, as much as I love this band (and this is their first song that I fell in love with), I understand absolutely nothing from Paul's poetry. One more proof he must be a genius.

That's ok, don't feel bad. It's basically human nature to criticize that which we don't understand.
