It's so dumb that neither Jin or Ishikawa killed Tomoe at the end She committed crimes worse than Ryuzo by killing hundreds of civilians , teaching the mongols the way of the bow , burning villages and framing jin for the villager murders but she got a happy ending? What kind of crap is that?

Ryuzo betrayal was lot more understanding and desperate. He cared for his man. Tomoe was selfish, from the day she was a bandit, to the day she betray ishikawa and joined the mongol. She say she did it to survive, but she did it for own personal power, ego and fame. Someone who had desperate will to survive while living harsh life is Yuna, she was criminal, a theif but never did she do cruel things for personal glory, only to bring food to her and Taka belly. Personally Tomoe, should had been punished especially after Ryuzo event.

@@Fearoq It was more of survival even though she held a grudge against Ishikawa it was she died with the other innocent people in that village or she taught them how to properly shoot better. Even though she is well I wouldn't say evil because again she is trying to survive she did a lot of wrong by killing more innocent people. And let's not forget the Mongols did betray her so it is smarter to leave that island than to stay in a 3 or 4-way battle if you include the bandits. Trust me I'm not defending her but if you are put in the same situation as her, it is called Survival of the fittest. Just like how you were going to rescue Taka there was a Blacksmith probably putting some blame or trying to get taka Killed because the Mongols needed one blacksmith.

That's how ghost tsushima is. The stories were dedicated to not ending up the way you hoped. It doesn't give you that linear conclusion you expected in the storyline like an anime were everyone's downfall is imminent, everyone getting their just desserts, and the happy endings at the conclusion of a story, but rather conclusions were things don't always work out, people die(every side quest in the game basically), people don't hold true their convictions (norio), people get away with their wrongdoings (tomoe) and romances don't happen (jin and yuna). Hell even at the end of the main story, you would think Jin would be forgiven and praised for his efforts, but in the end, he loses everything and is forever hunted and persecuted. Shit just doesn't happen the way we always hope. That's real because that's how life is you know.

@blackvillain4479
@blackvillain4479 3 ай бұрын
@shadowruiz568 it's not about whether she's evil or not (which she is); she was also a person trying to survive a fucked up situation. She could've easily died with those villagers in that camp if she didn't have anything to offer them. When they turned on her, running was literally her only option at that point. You say ishikawa should've just killed her when in reality he had no chance. Tomoe was long gone on that ship. Even if ishikawa took the shot, he likely would've missed, or tomoe would've moved out the way or found cover. This is the same woman who Jin's arrow with a bow at point blank range. As much as we all wanted her to get killed; I'm they didn't kill her because sometimes people really do get away with what they've done whether we like it or not. My overall point is that the developers chose not to go the obvious route at conclusion of each storyline and that's what makes it great

@shadowruiz568 I also doubt she will do anything evil on the mainland. Tomoe isn't dumb will keep a low profile, especially after everything she's done on tsushima. She likely hopes that ishikawa never sends a letter to the shogun. Another reason why i believe she won't is because the mainland is secure and has way more samurai around than tsushima ever had at full strength, so it will be less likely that she go unnoticed.

Tomoe herself does refute the accusations of her senselessly killing innocents. While I think it's undeniable that what she chose wasn't right, the story shows that Ishikawa's perspective was coloured by his perception of her as a monster, a bias that was likely not fully correct. Tomoe herself believes that she had no choice but to submit after being betrayed by her father, and in the process she tried to engage in subterfuge to limit casualties and mercifully ended those that were being toyed with by the Mongols. Whether or not you believe that is up to you, but at least it is clear that she's not the heartless monster Ishikawa leads Jin to believe.

Sparing Lord Shimura is the only thematically consistent choice. The entire game is about Jin's journey from samurai to Ghost. By sparing Shimura, Jin was forsaking the last vestiges of his outdated samurai honor, thereby completing his transformation. He is now well and truly the Ghost of Tsushima.

I personally quite liked the Tale of Ishikawa. Even with Tomoe escaping at the end. Ishikawa failed with Hidenori Nagao. That is set in stone. But Tomoe, flawed as she is, she still has a chance at redemption. For Ishikawa to kill her as she leaves Tsushima is to cement his failure forever. To allow her to live is to let redemption have it's chance. And not only that but it is honestly a more realistic portrayal of events than Ishikawa killing her. A daughter, even if one as seemingly monstrous as her, is a daughter; and to kill your own child is hard. Especially when the waters get muddied and the justification is uncertain. It was not Jin's choice to make. And Ishikawa chose compassion in the end.

The side characters and their quests in this game are the best. Not just because they’re nice and or cool, but they mirror Jin in a way. Ishikawa’s adopted daughter, Tomoe used his teaching and her connection to him to further her own goals under any means necessary which soured their bond. Just like Jin who used his teachings and connection to lord Shimura but ruined his bond with him as the ghost. Masako Adachi is the last surviving member of her clan and wants to avenge every body dropped on that day to the point of using an innocent wife of one of her enemies as bait to draw out his brother. Directly mirroring Jin’s savage and brutal tactics against the Mongol’s regardless if there’s another way or not. Ryuzo just like Jin is disgusted with his actions in order to save his straw hats. But as long as they’re safe, not throwing themselves to certain death with a warm meal served to them before and after? He’ll set the innocent ablaze. Not because he likes it. But cause it’s the only way to prevent his men from suffering. Kenji while a swindler and may not outright mirror Jin himself. Mirror how the people are affected by the fame of the ghost and how they’ll twist jin’s message to suit their needs later on. Yuna directly mirror Jin’s desire to save his people, not caring how far he needs to sink in order to do so as long as her brother is safe. Only for everything she did in order to protect Taka to put a target on their back. Leading him to be put in a box, while she’s left alive to grieve as all she did and sacrificed was for nothing. Kinda like how as soon as Jin poisoned the Mongol’s food supply, they added poison to their arsenal. Adding another way for them to hurt and torture the people he was protecting.

I don't think it's so much that. More so it wasn't Jin's choice to make so obviously he wasn't going to do it. Ishikawa on the other hand? Tomoe was like a daughter to him and he betrayed her first. Which lead her to being captured by the mongols. Then from there the waters get muddied. Was she being selfish and seeking revenge? Was she just surviving? Something in between? It's unclear, and possible that she might even have reduced rhe number of lives lost, even if indirectly. And Ishikawa, having already betrayed her once for his stubbourn honor lost his daughter. Lost his heir. Lost his legacy. And I think in the ambiguity of the situation; chose mercy.

As much as a killer Tomoe was to her people and her getting an escape was far too light what she had done for Tsushima, Ishikawa should also not be taken seriously. Dude was an actual egomaniac from the way he talks to how he acts. We actually never knew how exactly Tomoe and her sensei broke out. Jin realizes he is just like Tomoe, bending their own rules to keep moving forward. However on Jin's case its for his own survival, Lord Shimura and the people of Tsushima. Tomoe is much more selfish and cares about herself. Even Ryuzo's guilt was lighter than her because he betrayed and killed innocents to feed his men.

Ghost of Tsushima hot take: The story is ALRIGHT. 6/10. A bit better than average, but not by much. I say this because almost all of the side stories are very surface level. Often times telling and not showing. Maybe it's just me, but all the side stories involve loss of some kind. And while I can understand the feelings the characters are going through, I can't really get involved in their story that much personally. For example, In Lady Masako's story, she loses her entire family and we are supposed to care about that when we haven't even seen them. While I do fell for Masako, I cant really get too invested into her story as I don't have any connection to the people she lost. And also, she apparently had a lover when her family was alive. This comes out of the blue, and I have a feeling the writers want us to care about that relationship when we learn about it 1 minute, and it ends the next. No time to grow with the character, yet we're expected to care about them it feels like. The same goes for Norio. He lost his brother. That is his entire motivation for what he does. While I like Norios character, I cant help but not get invested into the story. His whole motivation is a blank spot for me. Someone I have only heard the name of. And while I do sympathize with Norco towards the end of his questline when his brother is actually found alive but in that terrible state. The reason I somewhat care about it though is not because of anything about the brothers character, but that I just hate seeing a human being in that state. The same emotion would be evoked from me if it was some side piece out of a Mongol camp. Horrifying and brutal, but ultimately forgettable. While I do think sensei Ishikawas side story is the best, it is only really a 5/10 for me. I like the dynamic Ishikawa and tomoe have. But we didn't get enough time with tomoes character to really rate it any higher for me. It isn't a bad story, but not a great one either. I save Yunas story for last, as I think it is the weakest one even though it has the heaviest subject material. This is probably because unlike the other side quests, we only get 4 instead of 9 parts. Her side quest is all telling and not showing. She said she was in slavery, is angry at her captors and wants to kill them all. While I understand her emotions, I do not share them. I only here about the struggles she went through, I haven't actually seen them. Although, I think the main story between Jin and Shimura is an 8/10. And it could be a 9/10 or 10/10 if the writers honestly just dropped the side stories and used that time to build the main story more. That's just my opinion though. I very much so like character driven stories, and I feel a lack of it from this game when it comes to the side stories even though I believe that's what they were going for. Also quick shower thought, I believe the game would have heavily benefited from being able to choose what path Jin went through. Honor, no honor, or a mix inbetween.
