I never wanted anybody to win anything as much as I wanted her to win that night. She is a powerhouse performer, Guiding Light wasn't the same without her after she left, she left her mark indeed.

I was SO proud of Cynthia on this night. She worked so incredibly hard on Guiding Light making a vulnerable, emotional young nurse into one of the most multi faceted, captivating characters ever seen on daytime drama. Absolutely incredible work Cynthia.

I still get so happy when he says her name all these years later! I was working at a hotel in Arizona the night this show was on and I remember watching through a window in a room...lol. Cynthia really knocked it out of the park that year...she absolutely deserved this Emmy!

There was never a more interesting soap character than Annie. You couldn't get to play a character so complicated and so various on anywhere other than a soap opera.

@@abemagic10 No, I believe that CBS wanted the show and P&G did not want to give it to them..for only God knows why. Yes, I do believe that if they would have brought Watros back and revived the Reva/Josh/Annie aspect it would have helped save the show in the end. The thing about Ellen Wheeler's time at GL was that she had some really good aspects of her time there but equally slightly bad aspects. She had some good characters and actors, but some unnecessary ones as well. Drew Carey is talking about "Price is Right" being on the air for 100 years, why couldn't a Daytime Drama be on the air that long?

Even on a show richly packed with naughty divas like Dinah Marler, outright villains like Alan and Alex Spaulding, and in the looming shadow of the sadly passed king of them all, the T-Rex of antagonism, Michael Zaslow's Roger Thorpe, Cynthia Watros managed to craft a truly outstanding hurricane of drama. Wow, this was back in the days when the Daytime Emmy was still a big deal and were held in three-thousand seater venues. Those days are gone. Last year's ceremony (2013) looked like it was filmed on some public-access television channel, and there's no televised ceremony this year.

I was really upset back then when Cynthia won. GOD I thought Eileen was going to win for her Portrayl of Kristen Blake + 5 characters, lol. However looking back at the scenes that was submitted Cynthai won this Emmy that year hands down. Annie was nutts and you still felt for her and that was because of the brilliant portrayl from Cynthia Watros Good Job honey and well deserved.

I was such a fan of Cynthia Watros when she was on Guiding Light. I was in middle school when she was on, and i use to run home every day after school just to see what she was going to do 2 Reva or Josh. She was amazing, and i loved it when she threw herself down the stairs and made it look like reva did. 1st of all....Watros was the favorite to win that year. Most of the soap press & unbiased fans had Watros winning. Many considered Davidson having a shot, but assumed the Emmy panel wouldn't care for the over the top storyline. 2nd...Erika Slezak won 1 of her Emmy's for playing Viki, Niki, Jean, Tori, Tommy, and Princess (that's 6) in 1995. 3rd....Watros wasn't unprepared because she thought Davidson would win. She was likely unprepared because she didn't want to get her hopes up.

I was devastated that Eileen didn’t win... Her arc from 96-98 was unbelievable! Good girl to completely hateful was amazing! Cynthia was amazing that scene in the cabin was chilling! I wasn’t really a Guiding Light fan but my godmother was and I watched Cynthia be so amazing. These women are in a class of there own!!
