Thank you so much for the great lesson. We lost our son three years ago and I have sworn to play his uke to honor him and find out why he loved it so much. I have been practicing chords for a while and this is the first lesson that I could play and sing along with. What a feeling! Coincidentally, this song inspires hope and it goes a long way towards the healing process. Thanks again Cynthia, Keep up the great work!

Im feeling so happy! Thanks so much Cynthia - Im 55 years old and just unpacked my first brand new Ukulele 2 hours ago.I cannot play any instrument at all so thought I would give it a go as part of my life bucket list. I cannot believe it but have managed to do the first four lessons! Even the strumming! Wow, your lessons are easy and clear and Im now going through the lessons again without looking at the chord charts downloaded from your links. I bought the ukulele to learn to play as a form of therapy for my hands which are arthritic and they are loosening up really well!

I think Cynthia is a great teacher with a lovely voice, and I am so appreciative of her time. The hard part is the changing of chords. While not wishing to take on the role of teacher (I'm a novice), I found this helped me after I watched all of Cynthia's video: Keep practicing all the chords of the songs as follows: C C F C C C F C C G C F C G F C But only strum once per chord and abandon the song. Practice this over and over, from slow to normal. When you've mastered it, then play along with Cynthia's song.

I usually start watching once you teach the song and now that I'm a week into having a uke, I am rewatching often for the backbeat strum at end. Hope you do more strumming tutorials with a layout like... 1) intro to strum 2) practice with strum 3) intro to a song using strum 4) mix of chords (just basic with simple transitions) and strum practice at different parts of the song (slow then medium pace) 5) whole song practice with chords and strum (slow then medium pace)

i know I'm making incredible process on my own as i can strum with muscle memory now and i use to struggle so hard on using my thumb and now i can strum with my pointer and my fingers aren't getting stuck in any of the chords its also starting not to get so choppy thank you so much this is extremely helpful and this is the first instrument that i actually learn on my own and willingly instead of being bummed that i even have to take it out and play it thank you so much :) I've only had my uke for 3 days so I've been practicing every day since for about an hour or more first day more working on tuning and starting to get the feel of it and second day learning how to strum and today learning how to strum and starting to learn music the only thing I'm having trouble on now is transferring to the next note. on another note (BA DA CHHH) I actually own the Twentyonepilots tour uke (i got it when i saw them saturday one of the best days of my life and would go back and do anything to do so) so i was wondering if you found maybe do 'We don't believe whats on TV' or 'Fall away' ? update: im so proud of myself for actually transitioning well for the first time in this song

I am in my 60s and trying to learn an instrument to keep my brain working. I didn't expect learning the ukulele to be so enjoyable so soon but your wonderful teaching style, lovely voice and smile meant that I kept watching, and trying to get the chords right and I have just finished lesson 1 feeling happy despite knowing I can't play properly yet (learning something as an adult I'm way more self-critical than I was as a child, so feeling happy is major progress!) Thank you so much!

Hi Cynthia. thank you so much for your excellent Tutorial. as a Tutor myself on the You-tube. (Watercolours) I must congratulate you on the way you have managed to over come this problem of distance teaching. By your slow detailed & repetitive presentation Which tells me that you are Natural born teacher. & as such I will be following your tutorials ONLY While building up my left hand strength and finger muscle memory. Not a lot you or anyone else can do about my vocals. But being an Old Ancient I can laugh it up & call it soul. Just to make you Smile having decided to make this Ukulele playing a new project in this coming New year. Visited numerous other sites ( Show boaters) before discovering you my dear. Only to find I had tuned my strings the wrong way round. a e c g Ha! Ha! ha!. Thanks to you Cynthia it sounds better already. Smiles.

So I started trying to learn the uku about 6 months ago, i started by watching your videos, and I have watched a lot of other's as well, but I always come back to yours, the tutorials are great, never thought I could make even the simplest cords but with practice daily and your excellent teaching methods, I have actually learned to play songs although very simple ones I have gained some confidence to keep it going, thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication to your craft, my Dad was a musician as my brother also, he always called me Johnny one note but now he is smiling down at me.....Thank you very much !!!!

Thankyou Cynthia. You are trying to teach someone without a musical sinew in his body. But you go nice and slow and you explain everything clearly. So, I'm spending quite a bit of time practicing .. but your beautiful face helps a lot! Have a happy day. Peter.

I've had my uke for 2-3 weeks now. I became interested after my daughter-in-law learned to play. She gave me a crash cord on three cords and directed me to some KZbin teachers. Though these were helpful it wasn't until I stumbled onto your lessons that I felt like I was actually learning something in an organized manner!! I plan to become a patron and take live lessons after a few more KZbin lessons! Thank you so much Cynthia!!!
