I've had a uke for over 10 years sitting in my room untouched. Your videos inspired me to pick it back up and learn! I have absolutely fallen in love with this instrument. Thank you so much for your videos! You are a great teacher!

Thank you. I started learning how to play the uke just a month ago. And somehow your videos are the only ones that help. I searched high and low and none of the videos seem to be easy enough for me to keep up with so thank you ❤️

Great lesson! I like mashing this song up with "Don't worry be happy" Thank you for the music! 🎵 I'm going to share this video with my Ukulele choir director. I belong a Uke choir of people with disabilities. I'm partially blind. This song will fit nicely into our repetoire. Uke on!

I love this song. I wish I could play it. I have been practising for the past three weeks when I got my very first Ukuleke at a ripe old age >65 yrs old. I do love my Soprano Ukulele. Never played a string instrument before. I only played piano for two yrs as an elementary kid.

Thanks for making these videos! I have always wanted to play the ukulele and just started teaching myself at 41 🤣 I played violin and viola as a kid but unfortunately let it slip by. I tried guitar and too many strings for my brain. So this has been a perfect fit. Your videos are very helpful and I love how you give options to grow with your videos and work at your own pace. And love the encouragement to make it your own. I've been very depressed and music has always been an outlet, sometimes a life saving grace.. so thank you for taking time to make them

Fantastic. I am a real ukulele beginner although I have played classical guitar for several years. I was gifted an inexpensive ukulele, which doesn't hold its tune, as a get well soon present. Wasn't sure where to start BUT this is a great beginning. Thank you very very much. 👍

What's the best way to lock in the island strum? I think it's helpful to follow your tutorial. I was almost considering making a loop of that, so I could drill.
@CoryTeachesMusic3 жыл бұрын
Just practice. Having it as a drill can be super helpful, I would say island strum can also be a trap too. Once you have it really down, you can sometimes fall into the trap of using it for every song you play, so just remember to add variety sometimes too :)

This is in a different key and the strumming pattern is more complex than the original. Nothing wrong with that, but it should be noted.

Hey Cory, Great Video. Your Channel is way to small for the great conent. I have a question: When I lift of my fingers when I Switch chords, the ukulele always slides down into my left hand (and then there is no space between the left hand and the neck, which you told us there should be) because when I have the thumb behind the neck/head , it Cannot hold it alone. Is the thumb supposed to be almost below the neck, so that the ukulele rests in it? Or do you hold it up with your right arm somehow?
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi! It’s about the grip. I also rest it a bit on my leg as well. The same thing used to happen to me and the more I practiced the easier it got. I actually have a video all about this! I’ve linked it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ-tl6luaq5krrc. It might also help to get a neck strap of you are still having a hard time.

Sometimes when I play the string starts rattling and its really frustrating how do I fix this problem?
@CoryTeachesMusic4 жыл бұрын
That is normally an internal issue with the ukulele. One of my favorite ukes does that occasionally and it’s due to having dropped it. I normally give it a little tap to fix it as the rattling is the vibrations of the instrument hitting my preamp. For you it might be different area such as a loose tuning peg or some other mechanical feature.
