About one year later: That’s actually a D7. This is a good way to learn how to play barre chords. It’s a basic C7 chord shape, which is only one finger on the first fret of the A string-the bottom string. If you barre the first fret and put a finger on the second fret you have a C#7, and if you barre the second fret and put a finger on the third fret of the A string you have what, a D7. You now know how to play all the 7 chords with this shape on the ukulele. All those cowboy chords you learned in the beginning, those same shapes can be played as barre chords all over the neck. This is a great tune to lean that concept and get used to playing barre chords because there’s only one. Same on guitar 🎸 Rock on! ---- I’m cheating by barring the D chord and muting the bottom string. I don’t know how people who have no prior musical training think about it, but it seems to me it’s harder to learn how to sing karaoke than to learn ukulele from you.

Thank you Cynthia for being my virtual support system as I work my way to not only playing but singing along with my little baby guitar. I've had a guitar for years but have been too intimidated to pick it up. The uke is like a "baby guitar" and babies don't scare me! It's quite a transition from the woodwind I grew up with (saxophone), but the pace you move about is perfect for me as my fingers accommodate to the strings.
