A translation error, it says Για την Ελλάδα η πληγή, στα στήθια μας λουλούδι This translates to To get wounded for Greece, is like a flower on our chests. Granted not as lyrical in English but that's the meaning

The music was composed by Mikis Theodorakis, upon his visit in Cyprus in 1964. He was given the lyrics from Cypriot poet Andys Pernaris and was asked to compose a hymn for the newly founded National Guard
