"Εμβατήριο Σμύρνης" is a Greek march dedicated to the city of Smyrna, now called Izmir in Turkey.
I do not represent any of the ideologies, countries, or religions shown on this channel. No matter if we agree or disagree, it is still important to document the songs of every ideology, country, and religion.

Well the march it self was composed by a greek from smyrna and it is based on traditional wedding marches that are similar to the tune of the march and are/were used for weddings from Central Macedonia and Thessaloniki, to the northern Aegean islands, to Ionia (western coast of Asia Minor, especially Smyrna), the Dodecanese and Cyprus.

For example there are recordings of this march by a greek band of smyrna called estoudiantina and was recorded in the first decade of the 20th century and was alao used by some historic athletic clubs of smyrna that after 1922 and until now are based in athens, such as Apollon Smyrna and Panionios G.C. of Smyrna.

Brother , I am from Izmir.I love Greece and history. But all historical records even for French, Italian consulates in İzmir at Ottoman times prove that Greek population was always in minority.Only after earthquake in Chios island many immigrants moved to İzmir and it's environs. Even in 1919 Greeks were not majority. That doesnt mean Izmir has no Hellenic roots. But denying Turkish culture in Izmir is not fair. You should come and see the construction date of mosques in city. That already prove that Turkish settlements date very old spread in all around the city.
