Former PM of Malaysia , Mahathir Mohamad told WSJ in Sept , 2018 , " We have traded with China for nearly two thousand years . China never conquered us. We have relations with Europe. The Portuguese came to Malaysia in 1509. Two years later, they came and conquered us. So I always feel that I’m safer with China than with Western countries " . Current Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim told reporters in Australia 3 months ago -- If Western countries have problems with China "they should not impose it upon us", we do not have a problem with China .

BRICS wants to build a new currency. It is also worth noting that gold has historically been used as a store of value and a means of exchange, and some countries still hold significant amounts of gold in their reserves. However, it is unclear how a new currency backed by gold would function in the current global financial system and whether it would gain widespread acceptance. Ultimately, any decision to create a new currency would be subiect to numerous economic, political, and logistical considerations.

It's interesting to learn more about the discussions and proposals around BRICS nations and their potential use of gold. There are several reasons why people may choose to buy gold, including its historical use as a store of value and means of exchange, its potential as a hedge against inflation or currency devaluation, and its relative scarcity compared to other commodities. Additionally, gold can offer diversification benefits to investment portfolios, as it tends to have a low correlation with other asset classes like stocks and bonds. However, it's important to note that investing in gold carries risks and may not be suitable for evervone. and investors should carefully consider their investment objectives, risk tolerance, and financial situation before making any decisions.

Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. 23% of Malaysians are Chinese, that’s correct. But so many Malaysians have partial Chinese ancestry. I once talked about ancestry with three other very typical malay muslim friends. To my surprise out of four of us I was the only one without mixed racial heritage. All three of my friends had Chinese grandmothers! Malaysia move towards BRICS is just another trade pact. Malaysia has 15 trade pacts vith various nations. It is not a political decision rather it is a commercial decision. At the end of the day, it benefits the country to trade in local currencies especially for regional trade. Malaysia's trade with China is about 170 billion of which only 25% is using local currency. With BRICS membership, Malaysia' trade with China can be 100% in local currencies. That is tremendous savings.

@@kongkong1364 Well, that's why during the entire 2016 "Tribunal" fiasco, the Chinese navy was there to meet with the US carrier strike groups. And after that confrontation, many countries started to sign up on the maritime belt and road initiative. Military, economics and politics are all interwoven. The Chinese does offer a better term than US since BRICS is keeping the relationship commercial instead of political/ideological. But it would have meant nothing if the Chinese navy can't prove itself against US navy. Frankly, from US interest perspective, that's probably the dumbest decision ever made by Obama. The confrontation in 2016 was absolutely key for China and BRICS to advance its influence, because that's the decisive proof other countries needed to determine if the Chinese navy can hold itself own against US navy. Without that confrontation, it would probably take decades for the Chinese to slowly convince many nations. (To be fair, if US navy had won that confrontation, then US would be been secured in its maritime dominance for decades to come, but that's international competition for ya, the winner takes all.)

When Anwar Ibrahim was the opposition against the Malaysian ruling party, he was subject to many accusations of corruption and illegal activities by those in power. The US and its NGOs in Malaysia were highly critical of the persecution of Ibrahim and supported him throughout that period. They even sponsored him to attend and speak at 'democracy' conferences in the US and I would not be surprised if the US wanted to groom him to be "US friendly" if and when he ever gets into power. Fast forward to today and Ibrahim is now the prime minister of Malaysia. He is friendly to the US but to the disappointment of the US, he is also friendly to other countries like China. Most of all, Ibrahim is "Malaysia First" and as such, he will not take sides to the detriment of Malaysia's interest. Expect more colour revolution type of activities from the US and its NGOs in Malaysia following this announcement from Ibrahim on Malaysia's application to join BRICS+.

USA did not support Anwar for Anwar's sake nor it was for the people of Malaysia. USA did that to get rid of Najib. As Najib was pro Belt And Road. Najib's father, ex-prime minister Razak, was one of the first leader in the world to restore tie with China 50 years ago, when China was in the weakest. Singapore did not restore ties with China until 16 years later. There is no doubt, the elites in USA will instruct the Politicians in USA to use 'democracy' to install someone like Marcos Junior or Lai or whoever that will work as a puppet for them.

The Ming ships carried silk brocades n porcelain to be given as gifts to foreign rulers and Chenghe distinguished himself as great diplomat in his role as the emperor 's envoy He got along very well with the rulers and even arranged a chinese princess bride for the Malaccan sultan.

The Malacca Sultanate needed protection from Ayuthia. And the Chinese made sure this happened. It was a vassal. As it gave the yearly "Bunga Ma's" as tribute to China. This only ceased on 1511.The agreement was crystalised with the marriage of a Chinese Princess and a Malay prince. Malacca was always under threat since its founding by Paramswara in circa 1424.
@MsHalimatul
@MsHalimatul 3 ай бұрын
Your statement that Malacca needed to pay tribute in the form of bunga mas to Ayuthia is historically inaccurate. In reality, the Malacca Sultanate was a powerful and expansive empire that did not need to engage in such tributary practices with Ayuthia. The Malacca Sultanate was a dominant power in the 15th century, controlling not just the Malay Peninsula but also Sumatra which is part of what is now Indonesia. This extensive control over key maritime routes and territories made Malacca a major political and economic force in Southeast Asia. As a major trading hub, Malacca attracted merchants from across Asia and beyond. Its strategic location along the Straits of Malacca made it a critical link in global trade networks, which significantly contributed to its wealth and influence. Malacca established important alliances, most notably with the Ming Dynasty of China. These alliances were strategic moves to secure trade routes and protect against potential threats, including from Ayuthia. The Chinese emperor recognized Malacca’s sovereignty and provided naval support when needed.

@@rogerboniface8086 Ming Emperor's edict to his envoy Chenghe at the launch of the voyages was that every gift received from foreign rulers would be reciprocated with a gift of equal or higher value from the Emperor. This is testament China didnt take advantage of its superpower status but believe in mutual respect, peaceful co existence n diplomacy with foreign kingdoms . As in the past n present, China is only interested in doing business n trade with foreign states. Ming China agreed to requests by certain smaller kingdoms for protection from attacks by expansionist kingdom in the region as well as from piracy in the sea just to keep the peace n stability for trades to flourish in the region . Other than this, China didnt control nor interested in controlling or interfering in the internal domestic of foreign kingdoms under their protection. Malaysia moves to BRICS-Plus is a good indication of ASEAN geopolitics vis-a-vis China. Hence, I would expect Indonesia and other ASEAN nations to follow suit soon.

The Chinese in ASEAN especially from Malaysia and Singapore, are very happy with this news because they remember their origins from China. So this is an opportunity for them to give suggestions to the government to use the Chinese language widely throughout the country including at the government and public service levels. What's more, corporate and business companies have made fluency in the Chinese language an important condition to get a job compared to the national language of both countries, which is Malay, even though they never or rarely do business with companies from China. It has been known for a long time that they only care and prioritize anything related to the Chinese. . It should be noted that China has many programs from their geopolitical point of view specifically for Chinese people outside of China to ensure that China's power is getting stronger around the world. Among the geopolitical programs are from culture, language, economy, education, news, finance and many more.

The BRICS should allow some friendly countries to join, such as Thailand, *not* *India* . The China-loving Princess of Thailand, who has visited China more than 50 times and speak fluent Chinese said in an interview with the Chinese media last year, "I think Thailand and China should be good friends. Many Thai people have their Chinese ancestries" Thailand's current Queen Consort, and almost all the Prime Ministers of Thailand, and the richest businessmen have Chinese ancestry.

I'm a proud Malaysian. The bar chart of favoring China or US might be skewed. Most people here like to be neutral. High chance that people chose China over US because of US's stance in the Israel-Palestine conflict. Therefore, I'd say that most of us like to remain neutral even though we're forced to choose one side. In the situation if I were to choose one side, it's definitely short-term: China, long-term: US.

Goodbye West. Thanks for all the universal values for everyone, human rights, personal freedoms, power balance, equality, rights for small groups, justice and so on. You never reached your true potential and wasted your real world value on stupid power-grabbing wars and unjustified silly takeovers. Now we're in the hands of our super powerful kings and rulers, not as people who follow laws but as people who obey kings. If you had the guts to make bold moves like adding Turkey to the EU, for example, you would have found a way to more world stability for your cultural and political power, and not let a country with hope for real democracy fall into a 10th century kingdom. I get that you were too focused on accepting a non-Christian European country, but in the end both Turkish democracy and your world potential were wasted. Not to mention the stupid wars you fought in unimportant Muslim countries like Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq, killing and causing the death of millions of people for some plans nobody understands even now. And your support for Israeli takeover and killing of the Palestinians that makes no sense. You were so busy praising yourselves that you didn't notice many of your actions after the Soviets fell were going against your universal values that you were showing to the world. When there's tough competition, closing yourself off and self isolation doesn't protect you. Your growing fear, doubt, and worry about your place in the world have made you pull back from the very ideas you supported. You might think that by closing in onto your borders and rejecting the outside world, you'll protect what you achieved in 300 years, but really you're falling in on yourself and you can't stop the tide. Here starts the age of Asian total control, dictatorships and kingdoms. But at least all king-obeying people will live a rich life as long as we shut our mouths.
