Before 1989 sanctions does have effects on sanctioned nations. After the cold war ended after 1989 sanctions NO LONGER WORKED anymore, since you have many many new powerful players that have appeared on the worlds stage after the September 16, 2008's Collapse of Capitalism via the GLOBAL ECONOMIC & FINANCIAL CRISIS with a Made in the USA by Wall Street Label on it as well. This also helped DESTROYED the USA's credibility and prestige around the world as well. THIW's.

ASML is not the only company that make machine that make microchip. a dozen of company make those machine, half of them are japanese. this is why US is now roping in Japan. they discover the big hole in their understanding that ASML is the gatekeeper... they are not, they just have the highest ROI. if China does not care about ROI, they don't need ASML.

Is microchip and semiconductor two different thing? Because isn't the key factor of US-China conflict is Taiwan and it's semiconductor company TSMC that hold a monopoly on semiconductor production? This is actually the first time i heard about important the Netherland role in all of this and the first time i heard about ASML being the company that monopolise the microhip market. Because i thought you going to mention Taiwan and TSMC instead of Netherland and ASML.

In 1974, 90% of Turkiye's weapons were US-made. The USA imposed sanctions on Turkiye due to the Cyprus issue. Turkiye had a hard time at first. However, it decided to produce its own weapons. Today, Turkiye produces 80% of its weapons. In 2009, Türkiye requested a Predator UAV from the US. However, the US did not provide it. Türkiye decided to manufacture its own UAVs and today Türkiye is the world's largest UAV exporter. In the short term, embargoes are painful, but in the long term, they lead to the liberation of nations.

It's not that they're stronger. It's that they're many, instead. The US cannot take on the whole world, specially when on the other side lie nations with: A Huge Industrial and technological power (China) A slumbering Military giant, full of natural resources (Russia) As well as several smaller nations, with loads of potential, trying to carve their place in the world (Brazil, India, Argentina) They'll naturally band together to fight against what they see as a common threat to their future and their welfare. Now the US, instead of having to worry about multiple weak rivals, it has to deal with a single force. Oh yeah, and the fact that even the fact that many traditional US allies are slowly losing hope with Washington.
