Reasoning is simple, actually. All the Sig needs to look out for is the Hook. In a GM 5v5 the Sig needs to eat sleeps, nades, burst damage, pulse bombs, gravs, blizzards, Zen 5 orbs, Moira orbs, and so much more.

If you're in a more urban area that's densely populated they're not always necessary, but if you live in a more rural area they're absolutely a necessity since there's little to no public transportation, and everything is so far apart that walking isn't always feasible.
