I agree my buddy and I have joked for years that CZ takes weapons and make them not suck. Then they take quality weapons like the Makarov, and Browning hi power and make them not suck less. Ive also been very impressed with how they have handled the Dan Wesson line since they bought the rights to it. They are a great yet overlooked and often underrated company with a great history.

They were actually primary side arms in the Czech military. If you're really recoil sensitive then the 32ACP will work I suppose but I'm generally not a fan of anything less than 380 or 9x18 for defensive use. That said, any gun is better than nothing so go with what your comfort level allows.
@timkc16383 жыл бұрын
Do you think Makarov tends to be a better option than 380 acp side by side for a female carry self defense? Love your channel.
@828enigma63 жыл бұрын
I'd say yes, in terms of shootability vs cost. Just be sure you use good quality defensive ammo and be sure it feeds property. And you can find enough ammo for it to practice with. I personally prefer the CZ82 for magazine capacity, but the Russian, Bulgarian, and Polish ones are acceptable but hold fewer rounds.
@Mrgunsngear12 жыл бұрын
Better in what way? The only advantage I see is recoil but the recoil of the 9x18 in this gun is not bad at all in my opinion. The 32acp is a pretty big step down in power...

Just want to add, although it doesn't have a decocker, it almost seems designed to be carried de-cocked with one in the chamber. There is a "safety" where the hammer cannot set off a round if the trigger is not depressed, it will block it before it hits the striker. You can see it in action if you take the slide off, and manually decock it, you can push the hammer forward to where it would hit the striker. If you let the trigger go, it then "raises up" and blocks the hammer. Of course, how someone carries it is always up to them.
@NextScamdemic3 жыл бұрын
That answers my biggest concern with it, thanks!
@landon95603 жыл бұрын
@@NextScamdemic Just a heads up, i was reading some forum posts about it (trying to find a holster that fits it or an stl for the grips), there was a report of someone dropping it "just right" and it went off (can't remember if it was a forum post or a video). It was speculated that it fell directly on the hammer. (at this point, i think it was the CZ 82 that i read that about, but i can't remember, i was looking up info on various firearms). My old man carries his with a round in the chamber, decocked in his pocket, or hidden in his vehicle and hasn't had any problems in over a year though, so as long as you're careful, you'll likely be fine. I'm not about to go ham on mine with a brick or a hammer just to test it, but just thought you might be interested in that.

I noticed that as you shot on the chronograph test, the FPS kept rising. I believe this was because the barrel was expanding as it heated up. I would love to see the results of a chronograph test done with the barrel already warmed up by firing full mag through it to warm it well before the comparison test was made. I think it would yield more accurate results.

Not having a de-cocker is not a big deal with the CZ-82, it has a hammer blocker. I hold the spur back, squeeze the trigger, let the trigger go, and then ride the hammer forward. As long as the trigger isn't back, the hammer can not touch the firing pin. P64 sucks to shoot, almost as bad as the BG380. I can shoot my Bulgarian Makarov all day. But my favorite 9x18 pistol is my CZ-82. I now own 3, the original i bought, and carry. Second i bought a frame and some parts that were a parts gun a buddy of mine had, i went to CZ USA's website and ordered the missing parts and rebuilt the thing into a functioning gun. And i just bought a 3rd, because the prices are going up... GREAT little handgun, not as small as a Makarov, and WAY too many parts over 40... but super accurate, reliable, and fun.

Ive been carrying Hornady XTP with a hotter load in it for about 2 weeks. The regular XTP is good, a little under-charged but it still chronys faster from a CZ82 than it says on the box and expands perfectly. But if you chrony any ammo from a CZ82 it reaches a faster speed than it it says on the box. I like the XTP bullet for whatever reason so I like to use it with a hotter superformance charge. Now, they hardly every show up at the online retailers and when they do, they are like tree fiddy. That's just the thing with C&R and other surplus guns... grab them while you can, because once the large places like AIM, Classic, SOG, J&G, Century can't get more imports, the price is gonna jump. The actually ammo produced for military use in the CZ-82 has GREATER pressures than the PowRball. There is no way the PowRball is too high pressure for it. Ever tried Buffalo Bore? The pressure handling capabilities of the CZ-82 IMO make the 9x18 great for the civilian market compared to *possibly* being limited in ammo use with some others. I recommend it.

The DA problem was the ligt strikes sometimes failing to initiate the round. Tere is one recorded instance when cop had this missfire and was overpowered by criminal, who then took cop's gun and ran away. Then there was the bigger problem of it shooting when dropped on rear - in one instance it happen to fell out of the cops holser in grocery store and shooting civilian trought the head.
