Awesome and love the videos, do you’ll think that this will take over the 22-250 for varmint hunting?
@varmintermagazine3 жыл бұрын
Because of the foothold it has from years of being on the market, the .22-250 would be hard to beat. Once the. 22 Creedmoor has SAAMI approval and is available commercially, it would not surprise me if it makes for a healthy competitor!
@philippalmer78143 жыл бұрын
@@varmintermagazine Both are great rounds but I like the .22-250AI which is a ballistic twin of the 22CM but a rifle with the .22-250AI chamber will also shoot standard .22-250 ammo very accurately. What velocity are you getting from the 69 grain? Have you tried the 80.5 Berger?
@Cachecarlson Жыл бұрын
I didn’t have many 69 SBK’s to use, I had to input the bullet data into QL and just pick a decent model. Load charge wasn’t hit by any means and the velocity was in the 3500-3550 range. I have not tried anything heavier than these 69gr in my rifle. I load 64gr TGK’s for Varmints and coyotes alike.

I have really enjoyed my 22 Creed. I’ve had 3, don’t ask me why 😂. I have that 80.5 doing 3,400. Glad to see we are getting some company in our camp. I might have to try the 69’s and see how they smoke.

No cartridge is too big for varmint hunting. The entire goal of an ethical varmint hunter is to make a quick kill. That is accomplished by well placed shots, using thin jacketed, highly explosive bullets, that release their energy into the animals.

Are you seriously shooting with a highway in the background?
@varmintermagazine3 жыл бұрын
As stated in a previous comment: We knew someone would say something like this. First, the highway that looks like it is close, is actually over a thousand yards away. That is called deep depth of field with a high-powered, mirrorless camera lens. Second, we were shooting from an elevated position down into the rocks and dirt. Third, the 64 TGK is an extremely frangible bullet and had zero chance of surviving any impact into the animal/rocks/dirt. Fourth, this is a .22 (Twenty-Two) Creedmoor shooting that 64 grain TGK projectile at over 3700 feet per second, which is why it is extremely frangiblle. Fifth, we've been doing this a long time. Not once have we put any untargeted animal, nor human, or object has been put in jeopardy while we have been shooting. During the 24 years I have run Varminter Magazine and the two decades I've hunted before that, there has never been an accident, because we are completely safe.

Why would you shoot in the direction of live highway traffic, are you crazy ? You may kill a person driving on the highway a 22 LR can travel over a mile and a 6.5 must go more a mile.

Myself being the shooter, I have hunted this area for many years and know the terrain and distances better than anyone. As you can also tell in the video, the angle of the camera is different in from the shots to when we walked out to get the rockchuck. From where the camera was setup when we retrieved the rockchuck, you can also see where the traffic is uphill from our location. As stated above, we are shooting in a downward angle to the rocks/dirt with a highly frangible bullet traveling at 3700fps.
