I got one and in the beginning they're seem to be some issues but I was able to correct them pretty quick. First off if you're going to put an optic on this gun make sure that the screw on the ejector side is not too long because it will interfere with loading and ejecting. Also the rounds sometimes like to creep forward underneath the round that's going into the chamber and that interferes with the slide stop. If you shoot the pistol and you have the slide locking back with a round still in the mag, that's because of you notice the bullets going to be slightly forward and it interfered with the slide stop. This is as simple as taking out the slide stop and tapering it on the bottom where the bullet makes contact with it with a file. If that doesn't work then put in a stronger slide stop spring. I've had this pistol for about a month and a half now, and it's smooth as silk. But a lot of people are having problems that I will be guessing CZ will be remedying pretty soon at the factory. The biggest problem is the locking back with round still in the magazine, but like I said that's the round creeping forward and interfering with the slide stop. But also keep in mind that it may voyage your warranty. If you get a little antsy about it get a backup slide stop and taper it instead. That way you still have the original.

I just purchased one of these a week ago and I’m more than satisfied/impressed. The slide locking issue is absolutely a break in issue as you can tell by all of these videos. The more mags they run the better the gun operates. My slide locked back a few times with the first few magazines but after about 100 rounds or so it has absolutely run smoothly and I’ve put about 500+ through it now. Also I’d try moving up to 124 grain training ammo instead of 115 grain. Hope all goes well and thanks for posting.

One of the screws of the optic is pressing on the extractor. Pull it out, decrease the tip with sand paper, put it back and check if that fixes the problem. Repeat if necessary.

Another guntuber suggested that the screw on the right side of the optic mount was a little long and interfered with the ejector . He replaced the Optic screw with a shorter one and the problem was resolved . He had encountered this with another CZ pistol previously .

It's a shame that CZ didn't QC the 3rd party optics screw included in this amazing package. It's an amazing firearm but that screw has destroyed so many first impressions. I also noticed many people weren't used to the grip and were riding the takedown and release levers, especially if coming from Glock.

Not sure what screws you are referring to but there were no optic screws included with my P09C.

I would suggest changing your grip because you are probably hitting up on the slide lock as you shoot...theres no way the slide would lock back with a round in the mag with no other type of malfunction like a double feed, stovepipe or failure to extract. The slide locks back against the mag follower. So i believe the slide lock lever is probably ultra sensitive and as youre shooting with youre finger from youre support hand against the slide lock, it is hitting the slide lock lever with every shot. I have this issue with ALL my canik pistols, after i adjusted my grip...no more issues. This can be a common issue with any gun brand that has these large sized/extended, slide lock levers...hope this helps Btw, an easy way to test this theory is to shoot it one handed or move your support hand completely off that slide lock

I just put 200 rounds through mine without issue. I am a lefty, so there was not “thumb on release issue”. One issue I noticed is the slide will not rack forward when chambering a round unless you rack the slide firmly. I have never had that issue with any of my other pistols. Overall the gun shot smoothly and without error.

I've noticed the racking being a bit "lighter" myself. I think it has to do with the slide riding through the entire length of the frame. Probably causes more friction and needs more forceful rack to go through properly. Not that it's really a big deal. You should be doing a proper rack on any pistol just to ensure no malfunctions like that.

Gabe Suarez has a video on this. He says the screw length on the optics mounts and/or slide are too long. Shorter screws fixes the issues.

To me it looks like you're hitting the lock. Open switch with your thumb every time that happens.

The optic screw on the right back is to long.. Dremel it down a little, it’s binding up on your extractor causing malfunctions.

The slide release is sizeable. Mine locked back until I realized that my right thumb was riding the bottom of the release. Mystery solved. Something about the size and location of the release. I have never had this issue before.

Believe your grip is causing those malfunctions. Try setting that thumb a little lower. Your thumb was lower at a time and it was running fine, then you moved your thumb up and it malfunctioned immediately. Its your grip

CZ's have had issues even before the merger. No gun company is immune from this. It looks much more like a grip issue than a gun issue which many people have mentioned. It's not even that his grip is incorrect for pistols, but the slide lock lever on the P-09c is fairly large. It's not tiny like on most guns. Could be the cause of the issue.

@@treedoor All companies have some issues but this particular firearm is having way too many. They need to get it right. I have the original Duty and close to 3,000 rounds and absolutely no problems whatsoever. The 2nd version is the one Honest is in love with and it's for a reason.

Ive got the p07 and the nocturne c p07 eats everything. I had one nose dive about the 100 rd mark with hp. Since then i ran another 500 total no malfunctions. Im in central Florida and yes its hot as you know what

The guntuber was Suarez Tactics . He says it was due to optics screw to long , protruding and interfering with ejector . Try taking the optics off and see how the gun runs .

Did you say that you did even oil it before your first trip to the range? I don't think I've ever done that. At a minimum I've sprayed some Balistol on one. Even then I took it apart and checked for grime. Looks like it is working though.

I love this gun. Mine has run through 600 rounds flawlessly so far. I know everyone else has already said it, but it looks like it could be a grip issue. You have a good grip for firing pistols, but the slide lock lever on the P-09c really is quite large.

You HAVE to oil the gun first! It’s in the owners manual, and it’s basic! You don’t need to be a gunsmith to know that. Sure guns can run dry, but by not doing so it compromises the integrity of the review, even if it’s not the cause. You might consider checking the length of the optic screws, oil the gun, and post a follow up video.😎✌️

I always said they all have a sample size of one. CZ and other manufacturers push out thousands. And unfortunately lemons can fall through the cracks

Why would you NOT disassemble and lube a brand new gun? Did that with my M9 it has NEVER missed a beat from mag 1 on. I really want to like this gun and use it for carry but I'm seeing too many issues but I'm not convinced its the gun. I've heard stories regarding the optic screws being too long and causing issues.

I was excited about this gun...but I wont get it now until they do some recall and fix the issue. And even then, I'm still going to need to watch enough videos in a row without a mess up in order for me to confidently buy it.

I lost respect for the honest outlaw doing a video on the nocturne with all the malfunctions that he might have caused himself . Never did an update on it or what cz said. Leaving everyone not wanting to buy it and everyone thinking its a POS

Don’t change your grip. You have a master grip and that’s the best way to grip a pistol. CZ mags come over sprung… so just load them full with ammo, so the springs adjust. It’s not the gun or you.

He does have a good grip, but the P-09 has a very large slide lock lever. It's about 1.5 inches long and sticks out from the side of the gun. It's not like the button-sized release on a Glock or other pistol that's set in. He may need to adjust his thumb placement on the CZ.

@@treedoor you think they stop making P-09’s when they made his. My hands are if not bigger than RGG’s or similar. If you are telling me CZ is not infamous for over sprung mags then I don’t know what to tell you. I have an arsenal of CZ’s.

I had the same problem and I’m left handed. So my thumb is nowhere near the slide lock. My trigger would have to do something crazy to hit that lever. I’ve been shooting a P07 for years and never had this issue.

the problem with your pistol tmus the screw on the extractor side of the red dot is to long. its puttingbthe extractor in bind,i bet if you take your dot off the pistol will be 100% ,,i seen this on the saurez youvtube channel ,they mske glock parts and slides ,he discovered this problen with the screw being to long

But that's nonsense. The design does not allow the screw to hit the extractor. In addition, the screw that holds the red dot has a shorter thread than the screw that holds the cover plate.

I have a P09c and sometimes the slide stays back and there is one round left in the magazine. I hold the gun in my left hand, so it is impossible for me to push the catch lever with my hand. I really wonder what it is! There are more of us with this problem. Is it a gun, is it a magazine?

I remedied the problem by tapering the bottom of the slide stop where it might be interfering with a forward bullet and the magazine. Tapered it with a file and that seemed to work. This is also if you go to the Reddit boards a problem that's been happening with the PO versions of the CZ's over the years, and that seems to be the fix. Either a stronger slide stop spring or taper to slide stop. It seemed to work for me. Just keep in mind that it may void the warranty, or you could just go ahead and buy another slide stuff and put it in there if you get nervous. Fortune favors the bold.

@@jboss007 I found this out by reading the Reddit boards. This is a periodic problem that's happening at a PO line from CZ over the years. And also has happened periodically with multiple brands going all the way back to the 1911. I have a Jericho two enhanced and I took out the slide stop and I noticed it was tapered at the factory. It fit my PO9 nocturne, but I didn't take it out and shoot it. But it did fit and everything worked on it perfectly.
