Hi points have an unconditional lifetime warranty. That's pretty legit. I had a .40 cal years ago and never had an issue with it. I bought it used from a pawn shop. I emailed the company telling them I bought a used one and asked them how I could go about getting anything that would usually come with it new in box, and they mailed me a new firing pin (they had updated it I believe), a trigger lock, and a ghost ring rear sight ALL FOR FREE. Simply from emailing them saying I bought a used one second hand. Ever since I have been trying to give them some praise whenever I can.

Some years back my dear old dad bought the 9 mm Hi-point at the pawn shop for $25, it look like a $25 handgun, someone scratched their name into the slide, it looked pretty you know, worn out, but because of the unconditional lifetime warranty my dad send it to the Hi-point factory to be checked out, and when he got it back it was like a brand new gun, with the brand new slide new barrel new internals and it works fine, all the parts and work was done for free, so he's got a brand new $25 Hi-Point. I don't care what anyone says, you can't beat that.

I tore it apart, buffed and lubed a bunch of stuff tweaked the mag spring, In the first box of federal ammo I had a couple of empty shells hitting the incoming round and shove them straight up and the slide closes and stuck. When my sister moved out on her own to Chicago from Wisconsin she went and bought one of these. She did not know a damn thing about guns. Never even shot. But she told the guy at the shop what she could afford and he showed her this. He even took her to the range at the gun shop and gave her the basic run down on how to use it and how to shoot. 2 months after she bought this and moved into her loft she had someone break in while she was asleep and she emptied a magazine at the intruder. She had a gun that she could afford so she could have the chance to be armed and defend herself. In my book these guns serve that very purpose and are good for what they are. If you cant afford much and need protection. One of these are just fine.
@danmorgan36858 жыл бұрын
+Tony Castaneda That is the niche for these guns. Neighborhood go to hell? Still have to pay off the kids hospital visit? Breaks on your car giving out? You can get a hi-point and continue to get through this rough patch. When you move to a better neighborhood because you ate Ramien noodles for lunch 3 months straight and haven't seen a movie in a year you can get rid of the damned thing. Their are tens of millions of people who can't get by on what they make. On a good month they tread water. Sometimes those people need to have a gun on hand. I would recommend a used gun but that isn't always an option. That's where hi-point comes in.

I used to keep several old 12 gauge single shots around like that. When I was a lot younger, they were easy to find for $30 $40, the uglier the better. One for each pickup, and one for my dirt bike, snowmobile, or tractor, on the ranch I grew up on in Wyoming. Prime coyotes were $80 or more just froze in the back of the pickup, and 00 buck, in range dropped 'em as good as anything I had some very nice shotguns, rifles, and handguns that I took good care of -- I sure didn't want to slide a Yamaha TT500 dirt bike under a barbed wire fence with momentum that had a nice shotgun in a scabored strapped to it, and I preferred always pulling the bike over with the mini 14 ranch side up -- so a $$30 shot gun was perfect.

I respect your view of the Hi Point, as you certainly have more experience with different guns than I do. That said, my first sidearm was a Hi Point and I found it to be a really good trainer. I have a bit of a shake in my hand and the extra weight actually negated that shake. Also, it made me learn the correct trigger finger placement...if I hooked my trigger finger too deep it was much more likely to hook left. Finally, my first day on the range with it, I had only one jam out of an entire ammo box of target ammo...the copper didn't eject completely. If I was forced to use a weapon to defend myself, I would much rather have a gun that dependable dispenses bullets than one that feels good or looks good, but mis-fires more often.

And as Hickock pointed out, even people with more expensive and better guns could use it as a truck gun.

Very true. A C9 was my first handgun. Bought it from a neighbor for $65 about 10 years ago. I now have competed in SASS Cowboy Action for 5 years. Own many "Cowboy" long guns and revolvers, several shotguns, an AK47, and several modern semi-auto handguns including ones made by Springfield, S&W, CZ, and Sig Sauer. i have owned 3 hi-points in my life, 2 pistols and one carbine... all .40 cal. the carbine performed flawlessly. the 2 pistols were polar opposites of each other. 1 liked federal FMJs and Remington Hollow Points, the other liked Remington FMJs and Federal Hollow Points. when the smoke clears, all that matters is that if you want to defend yourself with a gun, PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!! whatever you choose to buy, take it out and practice with it!!!

I’m not a fan of Hi Point but I totally agree with your comment!!! What’s going to be the outcome of someone going and spending $2500 on a fancy Kimber...... and they never practice with it to keep it nice and pretty for showing off......and they have to go up against someone with a $159.99 handgun who’s practiced All the time and he knows his gun well ???

I bought a new Hi Point C9 about 5 months ago. I did not like the trigger pull much. So, I bought the trigger kit for it, that took it from an 11-pound trigger to a 6-pound trigger. That made a world of difference in how it shoots. I love this gun for the weight too, it helps control my patterns. Now i will say the weight does make it difficult to use a belt holster. And being a big guy, it made i uncomfortable too. So, I got a shoulder holster and wow what a difference that made. I wear a lot of zipper hoodies or vests, so the shoulder holster made sense. Personally, I love the C9, and it has a great warranty. To anyone thinking of buying one I will highly recommend the trigger kit. It's very easy to install and very cheap too. I bought it online. and it only takes about 5 minutes to do.

This is the best and most honest review on a Hi Point I've ever seen. Most channels just focus on bashing it for the sake of bashing. I have no love towards Hi Points and I certainly wouldn't buy one but it's nice to see a review that is neutral and also tells the positives, not to mention that also understands it's value and purpose for the price range.

Let me say this first I have only ever owned 1 Hipoint in my life. with that said it never ceases to amaze me all the gun/brand snobs that come out of the woodwork to badmouth a gun I bet none of them have never seen in person. I had the opportunity to buy a JHP 45 brand new in the box for 159 so I thought what the heck lets see if they are really as bad as people say. Well I bought it, cleaned the shipping lube off of it and went to work trying to make it fail. I fed it any and every 45acp rounds I could find. lots of HP rounds full ball, SWC and lots of my reloads. I have yet to male it jam, miss fire or anything else. Would I ever want to carry it for my EDC? No, but for a truck gun it truly is the perfect gun. I used to always carry mine on my boat, perfect for that corrosive environment. I just really wish people would stop trying to shame people who really want to exercise their 2nd but maybe for whatever reason a Hi Point is all they can afford. As Hickock said "it works", More expensive does not always equate to more reliable. I watched about 160 Kimbers get sent back after they were constantly jamming on the range. these were like 1100 guns and they would not work. They were beautiful but would not work. Sorry for the rant but I just get so tired of the shaming just because you didn't buy a "insert fanboy brand here" I personally hate Glocks because of the way they fit my hand(that weird hump thing on the grip drives me crazy) Does that make them a bad gun? Nope just means that they aren't what I like. Oh and before the comments start about the trash I might own. I am partial to S&W M&P, Sig 226 and 220, and of course any 1911. 😁 I own all of these in various calibers and will trust my life with them any day. If all I could afford was 150 for one though I'd have the same comfort with the HiPoint.

I've had a C9 for awhile now - shot hundreds of mostly FMJ rounds out of it with no issues. I've never cleaned it other than filling up the barrel and spraying everything in sight with Kroil and letting it all drain out on a rag over a day or two after shooting it. It does the job for me and spends most of its time as a nightstand protection mode pistol. A buddy of mine shot it a few times and is convinced that I should tape a dollar bill to the grip and throw it in the river. When I asked him why I should tape a dollar to it before and he said so that I could say that I threw something away lol.
