Hello I would like to write some corrections here. 1) Actions are not casted but machined from solid crome moly steel rods. Steel casting is only used for steel pistol frames in CZ 2) action is not parkerized but nitrided like most of steel parts made in CZ. There are some exceptions that are blued but many. 3) barrels are not button rifled but cold hammer forged. CZ only uses cold hammer forging for everything from rimfire rifles, through pistols, Scorpions to Brens.
@EagleEyeShooting

Your incorrect. The actions are casted, I broke a few in half by accident. That's how I know. Saw casting voids and could not successfully tig weld without using a lot of gas The finish is parkerized some have been melonite coated. This was verified at a local nitride company as I was sourcing options to make the action slicker I didn't state that the factory barrels are button rifled. MY Barrels are You need to check facts before trying to correct. Also, liking your own comment is hilariously conceded of you.

Excellent video. Can’t wait till I can save the money to order one of these to go along with my thermal fit that you did. I’d say the biggest downfall for me on the 457 is the lack of triggers that are on the market. There isn’t a two stage out there and the selection is tiny compared to the 700 footprint actions. While the triggers that are available are nice they just aren’t what I would like and I think the other actions have that advantage over the 457… just not enough of an advantage to make me want to switch platforms. I think the 457 community is blessed to have you. Sadly it seems we may have lost one of the other big contributors to the 457 being able to overtake Vudoos and Rim-Xs in competition; Bill Scaramuzzo. His triggers were the absolute best for the 457. Sadly it seems he’s out of the picture. I have one of his two stage triggers and I wish I would have bought four of the dang things when all I thought I needed was one. I wish someone would start making them to his design and specs cause I’d buy a bunch of them. It’s so much better than the Jard or Timney. I wouldn’t trade that trigger for a complete build 457 if you put a gun to my head. Someone needs to put out a good two stage for the 457!!! Do you have thoughts on two other possible shortcomings of the CZ; that being the scope mounting interface not being as secure as some other actions and the fact that the bolt lockup is asymmetrical (ie only one lug)? Obviously the 457 leaves some things to be desired but it’s still great. Looking forward to seeing your benchrest build video to see what fine little details you squeeze to make a gun even more accurate than the CZ you put together in this video.

Hi Kenny - Love your work, a perfectionist! My brother was a good machinist so I have an appreciation for this work. I am leaning towards getting a CZ 457 and from your shop. I do have a question about your newer threaded barrel process. I hope it wasn't already answered. Are you 'facing' the reciever's barrel insertion end to match perfectly with the barrel shoulder? I know other rifles seem to benefit from this practice. It is more time consuming as you may need to measure how much is faced off and add it to the barrel measurement. Best Regards -Bob
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 14 күн бұрын
@robertgartner6072 hey Robert, if your referring to the receiver face. Yes, I square up the receiver face where the shoulder of the barrel meets the receiver. I usually take out anywhere from 1 to 4 thou. This video, I removed 3 tho. At the end of this video I actually have a diagram of this receiver that I drew and showed how a prefit would sit if this action wasn't trued up

Thanks for your time. I am not Mashinist but enjoy your explanations. Can't wait for BR video. Don"t really understand why you don't apply those " BR secrets" to PRS rifles (understanding difference on accuracy expectations by both discipline) . By end of the day everybody is looking for most accurate rifle isn't it ? Shooting good with few different ammo is head space lucky number right? But up to some point where ammo capabilities dictate results. On 50 yards my rifle shoot 5 different brands with same results. On 100 yards things start divide and 200+ one brand stands out. Really wanna see this rifle and shooting ammo from 5$ up to 30 $ per box on 150 -200 yards . My custom barrel is glued to the 455 action ( with proper squaring and hand space ext ) and is something between yours heat and tread fitted rifles. What do you this about gluing fit like mine? Thanks
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 16 күн бұрын
As I briefly explained in the video (I know it's long) I can't use tight chambers as I would in a small bore BR build. You will loose ability to extract reliably. The barrels are also built different, causing a cold bore shift. Something a PRS displines cannot afford to have as you will drop points. Glued CZ457 barrels are not a solid inference fit. Just like any epoxy based substance, it will flex. Theirs loctite 680 or equivalent that is a better option but still not as good as thermal fitting or just having it threaded. It's just a nightmare to remove. Perfect example why I don't take in people's CZ457 actions. Folks just FUBAR the system and expect the same results
@cz503
@cz503 16 күн бұрын
@@EagleEyeShooting My rifle is with loctite and it takes very little preheat and small hydraulic hand press for barrel to come out. Interesting point on different barrels build and cold bore shift. What cause cold bore first and/or what's difference on those two type of barrels and most important how one barrel build dictate cold bore shift to be present or not? Would be nice to learn more about this . We just went into a rabbit hole and I know how valuable your time is.
@EagleEyeShooting
@EagleEyeShooting 14 күн бұрын
@cz503 if heat loosens the loctite, I guarantee its not the best loctite to use. A retaining compound is what is recommended to fill voids. I would look into Loctite 680 as its designed for cylindrical slip fitted applications like how the CZ457 barrel is designed. Loctite 648 for high heat applications like an AR15 barrel. It's a PITA to thoroughly clean out of the action tennon area once applied however

Yes, except we will use a Lilja 17 cal barrel. Contour can be a shorter for weight also

Heard rumors you are working on your own custom action. Any truth to this?

Why would you not use the cnc? You should be able to hold exact spec with it. You should just use a manual and get your money back for the cnc.

I'm confused in what your saying.. I use both but a manual lathe does not have live tooling nor can you mill turn threads. Theirs advantages to both systems. I use the strengths on both cnc and manual lathes

Dude, your work is clearly top class. The attention to detail is just mind blowing. (For a none engineering person.) After all that effort, why use an optic that is...... suspect? After trying to get 100 % accuracy to use an optic that is not know for being "that good". I find it confusing. Why not use a know quantity like your normal zeiss scope. It seems you could introduce unwanted issues are trying to make everything perfect.

@martin2514 valid point, I'm always trying to find options that are budget friendly as an option for my clients or those who ask my recommendation. As I started my journey and this channel using 30$ Amazon scopes shoot factory rifles past 2000 yards lol. I've thoroughly check this scope in a tall target and box test for any correction factor. So I'm confident it's holding true and not inducing flaws in my shot or my ability to see the target clearly. The trigger cam footage does not represent the scope clearly. I personally would recommend this scope over an Arken as of right now
