You bet! Lots to learn, though. I've built quite a few of these rifles and help out at local matches. Its funny seeing them get mad when their rifle is shooting .180" while most PRS/NRL22 guys are struggling to just shoot .300" 😄

You said exactly what I thought. Without lowering the velocity the length of the barrel help to conform the lead to a more concentric projectile if the barrel is a high grade barrel.

That is incorrect information on the peak pressure. It does not occur at 14 to 16 inches. 14 to 16 inches is where the bullet stops accelerating. The pressure that remains after that is not enough to overcome friction in the bore and the bullet will begin decelerating. Peak pressure occurs when the bullet is still very close to the chamber.

Hey Kenny, wicked shooting, my names Derek, I live up in alberta canada, I designed those targets for us weekend warriors to just make a challenge for shooting and to put in perspective what it all takes to shoot a 22 accurately, (lots a variables). they can be scored anyway people chose to, but we use a spent 22 case as a gauge hahaha, and for us we hafta completely knock out 100% of the center dot to score 10 points, if theres a little bit if that dot showing on with a spent casing we call it 9 points. and the circles are all nominal sizes 1/16" center 1/4" yellow 1/2" red 3/4" red 1" blue 1-1/4" black 1-1/2" white (again thats just how our little group of buddies scores it) love your builds and attention to all the details Kenny keep up the great work

i just got my first bolt action but was shooting groups w my dedicated ar22 upper but was able to get 5 shot groups that were all touching about a 1/4 of the time, i cant stop stacking 1 ragged hole w my new 457 :), but i tried some single feeding and compared and i dont think the ammo was hitting the top of the chamber on its way in so i dont think it should make a difference but i do really like how the follower is flat when empty so it basically works as a single shot sled

Hi Kenny, I always enjoy your vids, for benchrest accuracy one cannot get max score with any shoulder pressure at all, Best results from no contact and 100% free recoil and I think you need a better rear bag as it didn't look like it was steady enough, not criticising just saying from my experience. here in Auss we still put tuners on heavy barrels with great success, lot selection is a must. I wouldn't hesitate to have you build a BR gun for me if I was over there. very impressed with your gunsmithing skills and experience. Thank You from downunder.
@EagleEyeShooting Жыл бұрын
Thank-you. I do have a bumblebee rear bag from Protek and will give that a try and definitely have had better days shooting better. Still new to BR but not afraid to let the community give pointers and good feedback. Thank-You again. Unfortunately, thiers no commercially available clamp on tuners that can accommodate a 1.200" I've made my own and tested mid barrel tuners out of Brass weighing 1.5lbs and found little to no gain in accuracy. With the quality barrels installed, Ive found consistency lot to lot so shifting focus on low SD's gain better results on target. I believe that is the first step needed before a tuner is used to finalize and gain the last bit of accuracy

Hi Kenny, Some shooters opt to use silicone tape on their stock bases to achieve a smoother ride, which can be effective. However, if you have a stock that is already very smooth, an alternative method for achieving smooth gun travel is to attach the loop side of Velcro on your SEB mini bags and rear bag, far less surface restriction, This setup allows for excellent gun movement. It's advisable to use a hard and heavy rear bag filled with sand for optimal results.

Tuners are important to me because up in Canada, getting various lots is typically a non starter. So, you make what you can get work. Still need to run the best ammo you can get (Lapua CenterX is my compromise) and being able to test various lots would be great, but when you have a grand total of one or two lots to test, you better be able to make the rifle "like" that ammo. I see truck axle barrels as a negative wrt to my availability of ammo types to test.
@EagleEyeShooting Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback, but I'll argue that fact that if you haven't tried any of my rifles, then you dont know what you dont know. CA is stuck with using crap barrel manufacturers with junk steel. IBI barrels are the worst and unfortunately you aint got much choice I found playing with the chamber in conjunction with these heavy barrels continues to supersede any benefits of a tuner. Consistent accuracy is achieved with many lots of ammo and different manufacturers. Obviously, some shoot better than others, but they can say these rifles will shoot .3" average regardless
@MysticPrecision Жыл бұрын
@@EagleEyeShooting I have access to a variety of barrel manfs including those from the US and Europe. Been in the precision/accuracy industry for a very long time. The supply of rimfire ammo in CA is very limited. Test lots? If we had them, we would. Test different types? Same thing. Last shipment of SK/Lapua into Canada was late spring 2022. If there is a solution to ammo variations, that would be fantastic. If there is a barrel set up that has a high success rate to shoot ANY lot into the 3's, I congratulate your tech.
